Zing Touch: ILX now ON IPHONE (and ipod tooches too)

i hate to complain because i love zing and appreciate that it's there, so much, but i don't think i like the previews, or at least they're not useful for me. i guess i just don't understand the point of them - the previews show up on bookmarked threads with no replies. but in order to clear the bookmark, i'm going to have to open up the thread and read it anyway. so what is the preview for? to decide whether or not to check out the thread? but i'm one of those Inbox Zero people, so it's not like i'm just going to let unread bookmarks sit there for days. i have so many bookmarks that i'd quickly accumulate a couple dozen unread bookmarks if i didn't clear them out.

er, this may be more of an issue with how i use bookmarks than the new preview feature, but i'm wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me.

No it’s fair — this might be a feature just for me! What I find is I sometimes read a bookmark and it has something I want to check out later (like a video) or something I need to do (like investigate a bug) so I keep the bookmark where it is. But then I can’t see if the thread has updated.

I was going to add unread status balls but figured this would be better.

i like this idea! or maybe, even just to add a little more information, a number to indicate the number of new posts since you last checked the bookmark. if there are two updated bookmarks, one with the 14 new posts and the other with 1, that provides useful information in a few different ways.

Have you logged in and out on Zing too? If all else fails deleting and reinstalling should sort it

It’s on the roadmap, coming in an upcoming release.

Did you ever get a chance to take a look at the bug where if you rotate the phone to landscape and back, the thread jumps back a bunch of posts?

bookmarks in zing show a preview of the latest post in the thread underneath the thread title, takes up a lot of room and often contains spoilers.

i mostly just rely on the dots! So on mobile ILX is kinda hard to navigate at all haha.

Having SNA show up before / above bookmarks would be a massive improvement to this user’s experience

Not sure why but the “help me learn Japanese” thread will not load any answers at all on iOS 12. Everything else fine apart from the occasional lockup.

my minor complaint is embedded twitter vids won’t play but I’ve found workarounds so it’s v v low priority

Why doesn’t ILX on iphone/safari warn you that other people have posted when you hit submit post?

I think that was put in because the OG Safari on Edge was so slow that you could get caught in xpost warnings forever on slow threads. Could probably take that out now.
