This is a bad thread to read at night. I just want a coffee now.

I think being a barista when i was younger ruined me for caring about whether it's espresso or coffee or an americano etc. When you end up drinking your mistakes it all just becomes a big pint glass of whatever.

feel like the flavor gradually gets nasty as it gets dirtier ... maybe that’s just my imaginatiln

you gotta work through that phase and into the next where you really get that flavor locked in

cw is that you dont clean a moka but idk i think all that does is make every cup taste the same -- defeats the purpose of trying out different beans and such

I set up the filter and grinds at bedtime, and have a gooseneck electric kettle that boils in about 3 minutes. If, like me, you think the bloom is 80% BS, you can do a pourover for 3-4 cups in 2 minutes. Click on kettle, shower, pour over, dress, set down with coffee.

I clean wine decanters with oxyclean, so I assume this would be a good method for a chemex.

If you like Chemex coffee but are worried about time or technique, get a cheap Bonavita machine and replace the basket/carafe with the Chemex. I initially really wanted one of those Ratio Eight fancy Chemexes but I can't figure out that it would do anything more than my current setup already does.

They've been rotating the coffees at my location a lot, they had this one a while back and then stopped carrying it and now are carrying it again.

timed my chemex pour this morning. it was eight minutes for four cups

Eight minutes is way longer than necessary, you probably need to tweak your grind size

i got a metal filter so maybe that’s messing it up

feel so bad about tossing all of that filter paper

I grind quite a bit more coarse than that, not quite French Press coarse.

i get a craving for Tim's like once a month. can't get down with the double double though, i order a medium regular

i had a double double for the first time in years recently and holy fuck what a terrible taste. i am seriously fine with virtually any bad coffee but that amount of just white-ass sugar and milk made it taste like... well, like hot kool-aid without the kool-aid crystals
