is it a controversial opinion to say i think he is the most interesting pop artist of the 21st century

flappy bird, Tuesday, 24 April 2018 03:21 (eight years ago)

i don't think i care about jordan peterson. i didn't know who he was until the thread for him on here and i googled him and i think i don't care. i already had to live through camille paglia in my life.

scott seward, Tuesday, 24 April 2018 16:11 (eight years ago)

i googled camille to see what she's up to. feel like i haven't seen her on t.v. in decades. nice to see people are still doing those "from bach to the beatles!"blurbs for books.

"Her fourth essay collection, Provocations: Collected Essays, is to be published by Pantheon on October 9, 2018.[93] It will cover topics from "Picasso to punk rock, from religion to Rihanna," and according to the publisher will present her take "on the rise of the right, the death of Prince, developing a writing style, the state of LGBT activism, and presidents past and present (to name just a few topics)."

as long as 'interesting" doesn't necessarily denote endorsement or enthusiasm

flappy bird, Tuesday, 24 April 2018 16:56 (eight years ago)

flappy bird, Tuesday, 24 April 2018 16:56 (eight years ago)

things I just don’t care about certainly includes whether people on the internet have controversial opinions on massively popular musicians

So we're talking about a Minnesotan sort of "Well, that's...interesting"?

grawlix (unperson), Tuesday, 24 April 2018 17:02 (eight years ago)

Precisely what I had in mind: Marilyn Hagerty, etc.

i don't care about kanye! in a completely benign non-judgmental way. and i don't care about his hijinks. i don't think i've ever listened to an entire album by him. listened to some stuff on youtube when people talked about a new song. not my kinda thing.

scott seward, Tuesday, 24 April 2018 17:28 (eight years ago)

or more accurately: i would listen to a new song when people talked about it on ilm. i feel like his presence in my life is almost 100% ilm-related.

Melania's dumb hat and a couple of photos from a funeral and that means she has now become first lady-dential.

Avengers: Infinity war. I don’t care and I think I’ve seen and enjoyed to some degree almost every other Marvel movie. It just looks crashy bangy lasery cgi fest.

I don’t care about Kanye either but I’ll admit I lolled at this yesterday.

goes without saying any comedian at the WHCD should be as brutal as Norm Macdonald or Michelle Wolf, but the hyperbole and hysterics on both sides is nauseating. The WHCD should be abolished anyway, journalists and politicians should never get that cozy.

I don't even hate superhero movies, but the market glut has seriously sapped my ability to care about each new blockbuster release

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Monday, 30 April 2018 21:20 (eight years ago)

i do hate them and want them to go away. or for norms to never mention them to me ever again.

but i suppose that's not "not caring"

Daniel Johns Hopkins (jim in vancouver), Monday, 30 April 2018 21:21 (eight years ago)

I used to really hate on all this Star Wars/spiderman universe tommyrot, now I genuinely don't care. Probably not some late period calm - just fucked up too many brain cells w/ booze to be able to keep up with the hectic release schedule these days.

i just took off two days of work and the weather is gorgeous, we just biked around to different parks and I've barely been on my phone and that feels amazing, a couple days away from the internet makes me realize there are so many dumb frivolous things i just don't care about right now!

it feels especially liberating checking in for a second - Kanye, white house correspondents, same fucking twitter takes one after the next, who gives a shit???? I need to get outside more and away from my desk and my phone

one of the good things about the internet cycle is that all you have to do is wait a day and nobody cares about the thing you don't care about anymore. kanye and michelle wolf just a distant memory already.
