Ha. I was just coming here to similarly post that I'm stuck in the '60s atm. Gettin' heavy into AIP films. Watched the first two Frankie & Annette movies this weekend, which were a corny gas (the second, Muscle Beach Party, featuring the screen debut of Little Stevie Wonder and what I thought were some rip-off Beach Boys-esque tunes until I noticed Brian Wilson's name in the credits). It's this fun but weird and slightly distressing hermetically-sealed world existing parallel to the general social strife of the era that I've been feverishly reading about for the past year.

oh damn I haven't seen any Frankie & Annette movies but I always mean to every year after I watch the Pee-Wee's Playhouse Christmas Special

the AIP talk reminded me of a beach movie i watched last year. lots of slow cranked footage, bikers & rockers, basically felt like a silent movie updated in full color, like a live action cartoon.

I have seen Back to the Beach many many times. It was was of those movies that always seemed to be on TV when I was a kid. I'm sure it's awful but I have fond memories of it. Also, it did give us this gem. Fishbone!
