i'm surprised to see your screwface at the door (NickB), Wednesday, 18 April 2018 20:28 (eight years ago)

Back on our league in the wrong thread for a minute, you all probably (rightly) missed Jamie Cureton playing against for 3 different clubs this season and the whole Grant Holt farrago at King's Lynn.

Bimlo Horsewagon became Wheelbarrow Horseflesh (aldo), Wednesday, 18 April 2018 22:14 (eight years ago)

Jamie Cureton is still about eh

imago, Wednesday, 18 April 2018 22:15 (eight years ago)

holy shit, Jamie Cureton still plays? Being in a coma for the last 10 yers has discombobulated my mine!

calzino, Wednesday, 18 April 2018 22:18 (eight years ago)

Daley is dead, p much ;_;

LOL Grant Holt, another Hibs old boy, with the emphasis on old.

(Henry) Green container bin with face (Tom D.), Wednesday, 18 April 2018 22:45 (eight years ago)

Holt and Lambert at Rochdale were a formidable strike partnership, many many years ago!

calzino, Wednesday, 18 April 2018 22:48 (eight years ago)

before Holt got to that stage where his apologists would often mention his "fantastic hold up play"

calzino, Wednesday, 18 April 2018 22:50 (eight years ago)

Wenger out

Big Sam will probably available at the end of the season.

(Henry) Green container bin with face (Tom D.), Friday, 20 April 2018 09:11 (eight years ago)

his last ever game as manager at our place, fuck they might even turn up!

calzino, Friday, 20 April 2018 09:11 (eight years ago)

Unless they get to the Europa final of course

groovypanda, Friday, 20 April 2018 09:14 (eight years ago)

his last ever game as manager at our place

Not if they reach the EL final! I'd be ok with Arsenal winning the Europa League. For Wenger. And for the 'fam' to beg him to stay at that point.

xp

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Friday, 20 April 2018 09:15 (eight years ago)

I presumed they were knocked out of everything, and relegated to League 1 - if you listen to Arsenal fans on 5 live.

calzino, Friday, 20 April 2018 09:15 (eight years ago)

haha

Give it Sean Dyche.

his last ever game as manager at our place, fuck they might even turn up!

He'll play the Invincibles, all of them. Even Wiltord.

Matt DC, Friday, 20 April 2018 09:53 (eight years ago)

I hear West Ham have a promising manager looking for a move to a really big club.

Tim, Friday, 20 April 2018 09:59 (eight years ago)

(Assuming Paul Tisdale doesn't leave Exeter at the end of this season, which he might, he will be the actual longest-serving manager in the football league, which is kind of amazing.)

Tim, Friday, 20 April 2018 10:00 (eight years ago)

This is an emotional moment for Tisdale isn't it? Finally, finally, he can be King

imago, Friday, 20 April 2018 10:01 (eight years ago)

hot take: wiltord was good

Google lobster hierarchies (Bananaman Begins), Friday, 20 April 2018 10:01 (eight years ago)

He was largely responsible the last time France won anything

imago, Friday, 20 April 2018 10:03 (eight years ago)

geriatric Wiltord still looks very fit, he would probably still make Tommy Smith look one-paced and draw a desperate last-ditch lunge from him!

calzino, Friday, 20 April 2018 10:07 (eight years ago)

Well it might be, the thing PT's notice was served on his two-year rolling contract about 18 months ago, by order of a motion at the AGM of the Supporters Trust. A new contract has apparently been offered but not yet signed. So he might leave this summer.

I'm hoping this contributes to him deciding to stay at least another year, we'll see. If he does go, it'll be a shame but not the end of the world, club's in good shape IMO and I trust he's smart enough to have not made himself irreplaceable.

Tim, Friday, 20 April 2018 10:17 (eight years ago)

Tfw Brexit is happening

xyzzzz__, Friday, 20 April 2018 10:23 (eight years ago)

Oh wow there are shorter odds on Brendan Rodgers than Allegri.

Matt DC, Friday, 20 April 2018 10:33 (eight years ago)

Maybe an outside chance, but I wouldn't be surprised if Wagner is linked with this job at some point. Apparently he is on the Chelsea shortlist at the moment.

calzino, Friday, 20 April 2018 10:39 (eight years ago)

PULIS TIME

you're my luger not my rifle (Noodle Vague), Friday, 20 April 2018 10:49 (eight years ago)

Low would seem a good fit, wouldn't he.

Rodgers would be hilarious tho

groovypanda, Friday, 20 April 2018 10:50 (eight years ago)

pulis would be a george graham for a generation of arsenal fans who don't really understand what the club is all about. there's a moral imperative for this to happen imo

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 20 April 2018 14:01 (eight years ago)

THE PULIS MUST BE BUILT

"It's great to be back". Look at that natural chemistry and effortless bonhomie there, god knows why they ever failed!

I know the betting is meaningless but still lol @ Brendan Rogers being steamed into the 5/4 fav at some bookies.

calzino, Friday, 20 April 2018 14:10 (eight years ago)

steaming is an apt adjective

Cortez the Self-Harmer (Noodle Vague), Friday, 20 April 2018 14:11 (eight years ago)

I hope he gets the job.

(Henry) Green container bin with face (Tom D.), Friday, 20 April 2018 14:12 (eight years ago)

I can't believe anyone could have a problem with that narcissistic creepazoid managing their club!

calzino, Friday, 20 April 2018 14:15 (eight years ago)

HE'S NO PULIS

Cortez the Self-Harmer (Noodle Vague), Friday, 20 April 2018 14:18 (eight years ago)

I'll say one thing for Rodgers, he really relishes beating Rangers, to an almost (Neil) Lennonesque degree.

(Henry) Green container bin with face (Tom D.), Friday, 20 April 2018 14:23 (eight years ago)

there are tribes in Borneo who've had no contact with Western civilization who would relish beating Rangers

Cortez the Self-Harmer (Noodle Vague), Friday, 20 April 2018 14:25 (eight years ago)

I feel like this is a great opportunity to ruin the career of a young up and coming English manager like your Sean Dyches or your Eddie Howes

cajunsunday, Friday, 20 April 2018 14:27 (eight years ago)

(xp) Yes, but a Deila or a Strachan, with Celtic comfortably winning, would have taken off a few leading players, stuck on a holding midfielder or two - Rodgers brought on three forwards as substitutes.

(Henry) Green container bin with face (Tom D.), Friday, 20 April 2018 14:30 (eight years ago)

and vice versa. In fact, winning 50-0 against a scratch team of bemused and scared tribesmen from the Kalimantan forests with only the barest understanding of the game's rules and none of tactics, at a packed Ibrox, that would be the perfect matchday experience for the fascistic bullies who make up the entirety ofthe vast majority ofa majority ofa disturbingly large proportion of Rangers support

Google lobster hierarchies (Bananaman Begins), Friday, 20 April 2018 14:38 (eight years ago)

Tribunal result for Ampadu comes in and is, IMO, pretty derisory for a player who's gone straight into the first team squad.

If I didn't know better I'd almost the football authorities in this country have structured things to support the richest at the expense of the least rich.
