/r/braincels is just /r/incels redux, and the Black Ops 2 thing is a reference to this picture of a guy wearing a Black Ops 2 t-shirt. He's become a sort of incel world mascot, I guess because they think he, whoever he is, looks like the prototypical incel. They sometimes treat him as a mythic figure and refer to him as St. BlackOps2cel.

So there's a new "redesign" today or am I just only seeing it for the first time for some reason? I don't get it, it's like they just switched to a slightly different version of shitty circa-2003 web design.

It's like they made a car everyone thought was really ugly and they were like "we hear you, and we're going back to the drawing board" and then they just come out with the same car but it has different wheel covers and headlamps

most car manufacturers do that every couple years between major redesigns, seems like a solid plan

they're slowly rolling out a new version of the site apparently

theres a new voting structure where u decide if something is "extra meme" or not

you are now required to take a colored pill before you can access the site

I understand why people find those 'little free libraries' cute and nice, they seem pretty innocuous and well-meaning. But they're exemplars of the issue of moving social good into the private/charitable/voluntary sphere. Patchy, minimal, constantly in danger of being abandoned due to lack of free time or interest, untrained or no staff, not actually providing the service that they've named themselves after, not really accessible to the people who need the service most... and many other issues.

And probably I will get people going "oh, but they're not really supposed to replace public libraries" - look at the mass redundancies of librarians and their replacement by untrained, unskilled volunteers. If you think they couldn't possibly replace libraries, stop erroneously calling them libraries, for a start.
