ah kids there's no way Fulham haven't got this

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 31 March 2018 13:52 (six years ago) link

That's what I thought last year, they looked unstoppable and then choked bigtime.

calzino, Saturday, 31 March 2018 13:56 (six years ago) link

You can’t discuss London soccer teams in here, this is the anti-semitism thread.

Andrew Farrell, Saturday, 31 March 2018 19:02 (six years ago) link

ffs might to have cancel my membership now Izzard is on the NEC.

calzino, Saturday, 31 March 2018 19:03 (six years ago) link

Now we know the real reason Corbyn was dragging his heels over this woman.

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Saturday, 31 March 2018 19:17 (six years ago) link

I'd presume the next nearest beaten candidate from the last NEC election is auto choice when an elected committee member stands down, or something like that. They should have got an Izzard Clause in or something, the fucking humanity!

calzino, Saturday, 31 March 2018 19:19 (six years ago) link

say what you want about Eddie Izzard

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 31 March 2018 19:28 (six years ago) link

I wish people would slag him off for being a fucking nauseating personality and a Blairite rather than anything else.

calzino, Saturday, 31 March 2018 20:00 (six years ago) link

Forget Cambridge Analytica, I’m sure his attempts to represent Remain knocked 5% off the vote.

It doesn’t speak well of the health of the right of the party when he was their best choice for NEC representation.

Really honoured to now represent almost 600,000 members on the national executive of @UKLabour - at last the 21st century version of the Socialist party I joined 44 years ago pic.twitter.com/53ot5DMpjO

— Jon Lansman (@jonlansman) January 15, 2018

Which isn’t to say I’m not glad Shawcroft is gone, because I am.

gyac, Saturday, 31 March 2018 20:08 (six years ago) link

"I’m sure his attempts to represent Remain knocked 5% off the vote."

gross underestimation there imo

calzino, Saturday, 31 March 2018 20:10 (six years ago) link

he kept pushing me towards Leave right to the death

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 31 March 2018 20:15 (six years ago) link

well maybe between him Darling/Blair/Brown/Gedolf about 10% of the Remain vote was annihilated.

calzino, Saturday, 31 March 2018 20:19 (six years ago) link

and that was just the Tory campaign

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 31 March 2018 20:20 (six years ago) link

Xp vastly unfair on Brown to lump him in with the rest. I really liked the short film he made which made a rare positive case for Remain.

gyac, Saturday, 31 March 2018 20:40 (six years ago) link

I can vaguely recall a less impressive bit of campaigning by him, but maybe he didn't have his morning blast of Arctic Monkeys that day!

calzino, Saturday, 31 March 2018 20:43 (six years ago) link

That was so mocked at the time but I read a thing recently that gives it a bit more context:

here’s Damian McBride explaining the widely ridiculed Gordon Brown/Arctic Monkeys answer pic.twitter.com/RjeAmHKQPF

gyac, Saturday, 31 March 2018 20:46 (six years ago) link

If he'd've said "fuck that shit I only listen to Toru Takemitsu and power electronics" that could never have happened

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 31 March 2018 20:50 (six years ago) link

tbh Corbyn made a similar tit out of himself at Prenton Park, and even though the crowd lapped it up he looked an absolute arse. But some slack cut there because he isn't Broon for starters!

calzino, Saturday, 31 March 2018 20:58 (six years ago) link

Forget Cambridge Analytica, I’m sure his attempts to represent Remain knocked 5% off the vote.

Yes. I'm pretty sure Izzard's appearance on QT the week prior to the vote had a huge effect. Wanker.

DJ U OK Hun? (jed_), Saturday, 31 March 2018 21:08 (six years ago) link

That self-indulgent speedfreak style no content psychobabble, which seems to make up 99% of his act isn't actually an act. The cunt just talks like that all the time.

calzino, Saturday, 31 March 2018 21:11 (six years ago) link

I don't know if I misheard, but I think there was just a chorus of "Oh Jeremy Corbyn" at the Joshua/Parker fight!

calzino, Saturday, 31 March 2018 21:51 (six years ago) link

Lot of anti-Semites in then.

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Saturday, 31 March 2018 21:57 (six years ago) link

I thought I also saw a spectral Riefenstahl ghost behind one of the cameras looking annoyed and disappointed, so who knows!

calzino, Saturday, 31 March 2018 22:08 (six years ago) link

there were Jeremy Corbyn chants at the Everton/Liverpool games yesterday as well. Earlier on BBC radio after running a piece on the Times reportage of what the fucked-up wombats on FB post - shockah, there was a soundclip of the Joshua fight with a Corbyn chant going on in the background. And they made no reference to it at all even though it was a constant during the fight.

calzino, Sunday, 1 April 2018 08:51 (six years ago) link

I was Anthony Joshua not Jeremy Corbyn they were singing, saw a clip of Some Lads singing it before the fight.

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Sunday, 1 April 2018 10:06 (six years ago) link

ah, they sang at it the last Joshua fight is why I thought it was JC, it did sound like it to me but I'm probably slightly obsessed with all matters: bring down Tory scum.

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 1 April 2018 10:20 (six years ago) link

No worries, lads...

On Twitter, some prominent Labour supporters welcomed Izzard’s appointment. Musician Billy Bragg tweeted: “Christine Shawcroft is not an antisemite. She made a serious error of judgement, but parties that hope to form governments must expect to be held to higher standards. I campaigned with Eddie Izzard against the BNP in Barking and I welcome him to the NEC.”

Actor Tony Robinson also gave his backing, saying that Izzard was “a free spirit”.

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Sunday, 1 April 2018 10:25 (six years ago) link

ugh! double dose of Baldrick + Billy Bragg smugness, is anything more sick-making?

calzino, Sunday, 1 April 2018 10:28 (six years ago) link

well, yes. Eddie Izzard is the answer!

calzino, Sunday, 1 April 2018 10:30 (six years ago) link

god how much do i hate Tony Robinson

no surprise that Lib Dem enthusiast Billy Bragg is backing Izzard, nor that he wheels out his anti-nazi credentials to justify his pro-neolib credentials.

meanwhile, a multi-millionaire property developer doesn't like the Labour party any more. quel cauchemar.

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 1 April 2018 10:35 (six years ago) link

i mean this is hard because if i see one more "but the Tories are massive racists so nobody on the Left can ever be bad or wrong ever" posts on Facebook i'm gonna start unfriending peeps but on the other hand i think we need to keep shaking the tree until all the rotten nuts have dropped to the ground and we can run a big fucking roller over the lot of them

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Sunday, 1 April 2018 15:46 (six years ago) link

Is it anti-semitic to only care what jews and not gentiles say about Corbyn and anti-semitism? I ask because by following that policy I have managed to get a good signal:noise ratio.

Eddie Izzard calls for Labour to 'stamp out' anti-Semitism

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Sunday, 1 April 2018 16:51 (six years ago) link

Comments in the groups show members advocating violence, reports the paper.

Ruh roh

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 1 April 2018 16:56 (six years ago) link

xp I can't stand Izzard, but nothing he said there seems at all objectionable? This is exactly the same line that Corbyn has taken in his recent statements:

"This is a very important time for the Labour Party and we must stamp out completely the stain of anti-Semitism from a minority of members. It has no place in our party," Mr Izzard said.

"We must make amends and repair the damage with the Jewish community as Jeremy Corbyn has promised to do."

soref, Sunday, 1 April 2018 16:57 (six years ago) link

He's objectionable.

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Sunday, 1 April 2018 16:59 (six years ago) link

And now, having already been responsible for Brexit, he's going to be everywhere all the time.

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Sunday, 1 April 2018 17:00 (six years ago) link

true, but if he is going to be getting interviewed on tv etc then I'd rather have him take that line on anti-semitism than any other
