ah yes, marxism, famous for banning assault weapons
― adam the (abanana), Monday, 26 March 2018 04:13 (eight years ago)
And ironically the gun looks somewhat like an AK47.
― American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Monday, 26 March 2018 04:35 (eight years ago)
How can a ban on guns be represented as a gun? What sense does he think this makes?
― mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Monday, 26 March 2018 09:49 (eight years ago)
He's making a point about who the real guns are here.
― Daniel_Rf, Monday, 26 March 2018 10:52 (eight years ago)
I've stopped asking those questions about Mr. Garrison tbh
― Google Atheist (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 26 March 2018 10:53 (eight years ago)
More than the others in this thread, he's playing to an audience that loves irony, particularly when it suggests that the libtards are guilty of the only sin the audience recognises, hypocrisy.
― Andrew Farrell, Monday, 26 March 2018 12:11 (eight years ago)
TFW you are unable to find out what Roseanne looks like before you draw your cartoon

v cool that chuds are just kinda accepting that yeah in fact trump is effectively tackling human trafficking despite, y'know, a lack of any evidence to that effect or even really any public statements from trump about the issue at all
― star wars ep viii: the bay of porgs (bizarro gazzara), Wednesday, 11 April 2018 11:15 (eight years ago)
why do i feel like these are probably the same dorks that wd've been drawing YOU'RE DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY takes when Roseanne was in its prime first time round?

― frogbs, Wednesday, 11 April 2018 14:23 (eight years ago)
At first look I thought that this cartoon was making quite an interesting point about the concept of a 'counterculture' and how its co-opting by mainstream culture reflects on not just the absorbing / consuming nature of capitalism but on flaws in the concept of subversion itself as an alternative to actually addressing the disparities in society. Then on second look I realised I had slightly misunderstood the artist's intentions.
― mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Wednesday, 11 April 2018 14:29 (eight years ago)
your read is better
― vermicious kid (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 11 April 2018 14:33 (eight years ago)
amongst many many many other reasons the look posited in the picture as 1980 was, by 1980, already a commodified lamestream take on a point missed 5 years previously
― vermicious kid (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 11 April 2018 14:35 (eight years ago)
to be "counter"cultural is always to perform participation in a subculture that has already been assimilated by hegemonic powers
― vermicious kid (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 11 April 2018 14:37 (eight years ago)
mainly i'm just happy to learn that i've accidentally joined the counterculture by owning shorts, procreating and remaining white
― star wars ep viii: the bay of porgs (bizarro gazzara), Wednesday, 11 April 2018 14:38 (eight years ago)
it's confusing b/c 1980 guy looks to be about thirty years older than 2018 guy

Not sure if this is the place for it or the alt-right thread, but military action (especially in Syria) seems to be a bit of a line in the sand for many otherwise diehard Trump supporters. Look at Garrison's latest cartoon for example
https://grrrgraphics.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/shared_vision_war.jpg
On /r/The_Donald meanwhile, the usual tone of Trump cheerleading has been replaced by a list of Trump tweets with the occasional generic maga meme.

Now, how much of this is down to genuine disillusionment and how much down to everyone being Russian bots in the first place I can't say. But it's an interesting bit of data at least.

This thread always pisses me off, I love it
its remarkably straightforward for a Ben Garrison cartoon so I guess that's a plus

The free speech of conservatives has become a stinking sinkhole due to the intrinsically toxic nature of modern republican thought. A good cartoon.

I'll say this of garrison: he gets plumbing.
