cozen (Cozen), Monday, 22 August 2005 21:40 (twenty years ago)

Whilst staring aimlessly out onto the street below this morning, I saw Colette striding along Upper St at approx. 9:31am BST.

ha! momus was on my bus yesterday. we followed each other to a gig too. but did not speak. RJG did, however.

dahlin (dahlin), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:36 (twenty years ago)

I saw momus, in mono, and introduced myself

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:41 (twenty years ago)

I asked a random man in Mono if I could borrow a chair (a member of Belle and Sebastian had invited me to sit with him and there was no room for my girlfriend). The random man turned out to be RJG. "Ah, we can write about this on the "Random Impromptu ILXers Sighting" thread!" I exclaimed excitedly, and walked off with the chair.

Momus (Momus), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 04:47 (twenty years ago)

I was there too, but not at that precise moment. It was probably my chair.

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 06:33 (twenty years ago)

I am disappointed that I did not see any ILX0rs. (Well, apart from Emsk but that was neither random nor impromptu.) I tried to keep an eye out for g-kit but did not spot him.

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 07:28 (twenty years ago)

I read Ambrose in the Guardian Media section yesterday.

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 07:57 (twenty years ago)

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 09:25 (twenty years ago)

I saw the shaved pubes bear again.

Bob Dobolina, Tuesday, 30 August 2005 11:25 (twenty years ago)

oh yeah, i forgot about a week or so ago i ran into Dyson/Thermo whatever he wants to be called, at the Eglinton West subway - who i wouldn't have recognized if he hadn't yelled at me since i wasn't wearing ze corrective eyewear, and oddly enough Zac aka Rufus aka Noodles ALSO turned up at the exact same moment and thrust this box of chocolates into my hand which kind of confused me because i didn't expect to see him yet and i'd had a really long day and had no idea what the hell was going on. ok, so it wasn't exactly total chaos - i have no excuse.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 31 August 2005 00:38 (twenty years ago)

I saw that Stevie Chick, sometimes of this parish, sitting in the balcony behind us at the Stooges gig last night! Hacks be dancing!

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Wednesday, 31 August 2005 07:09 (twenty years ago)

I'm sure it wasn't him, but I someone who looked a WHOLE LOT like Spencer Chow driving south down La Jolla yesterday in a silver Aud1 at around 3 pm.

luna (luna.c), Saturday, 3 September 2005 16:48 (twenty years ago)

ju: (nun o'ju:) 'ave seen NUTHIN of me yet, bay-bee

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Saturday, 3 September 2005 23:06 (twenty years ago)

Luna, It could have been me (left work early on Fri and was in the neighborhood), but I drive a silver Jetta.

I saw JAXON, on Monday afternoon in SF's Mission district at a convenience store! I was buying diet ginger ale and green tea.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 22:54 (twenty years ago)

Umm, Luna, did you intentionally google-proof AUDI?

nabiscothingy, Wednesday, 7 September 2005 23:14 (twenty years ago)

oh yeah, spencer, adam's not in SF right now

JAXON (jaxon), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 23:48 (twenty years ago)

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 8 September 2005 01:25 (twenty years ago)

I thought I saw Porkpie this morning, in a London Underground Railway station, but it was not him. Nevertheless, it gave me a brief spasm of joy, which surprised me with its intensity.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Thursday, 8 September 2005 06:41 (twenty years ago)

I saw Lixi at the bus stop AGAIN!!! This is becoming somewhat of a habit. We have to stop meeting like this! People will talk...

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Thursday, 8 September 2005 07:09 (twenty years ago)

It's Thermo now, Kim - get with one program!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 8 September 2005 08:24 (twenty years ago)

RiCKAAAAAY T in the Charing X Road Sainsburys Local yesterday. Buying tissues, batteries and Vaseline, no doubt.

BARMS, Thursday, 8 September 2005 13:53 (twenty years ago)

En route to the Pete & Cis FAP, Marianna got on the same 38 as Alix and I. Then Colette and Toby saw us as we were getting off but by that point I guess it's less impromptu more an inevitability.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 8 September 2005 13:55 (twenty years ago)

haha spencer drives a GIRLS CAR

I've heard this kind of thing before. I disagree and think it's macho nonsense (reminds me of "disco sucks" actually). Jettas are the people's car!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 8 September 2005 16:45 (twenty years ago)

I mean, should I get a cheesy "boys" car? What would that be? A Mitsubishi eclipse or something? Something tacky?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 8 September 2005 16:46 (twenty years ago)

Now I feel so emasculated. I'll have to give in to peer pressure and buy a TRUCK or whatever they drive in Simi Valley.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 8 September 2005 16:50 (twenty years ago)

got lost in simi valley (may 2005 mix)

terry lennox. (gareth), Thursday, 8 September 2005 16:55 (twenty years ago)

Haha yeah, I remembered that after I talked to you.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 8 September 2005 20:43 (twenty years ago)

Capital Letter Rock (jaxon), Friday, 9 September 2005 01:47 (twenty years ago)

I was a little confused! When you said "jaxon" I thought you were talking about "jackson" of jackson and his computer band etc. Nice to meet you both!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 9 September 2005 19:31 (twenty years ago)

So I'm processing this book for a German class and I notice that it is dedicated to one Nicholas Currie...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 17:21 (twenty years ago)

(that author was someone I knew at college, but Nick knows him completely independently)

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 17:45 (twenty years ago)

! A small world!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 18:16 (twenty years ago)

I don't know Christian Kracht very well... he interviewed me in the early 90s for a German magazine called Tempo (and got Wolfgang Tillmans to take the photos), and just last year he commissioned me to write a short story for his magazine Der Freund. My tale was a sort of shaggy dog story about Holger Hiller. I wish I could read "Mesapotamia"... I hope "processing" means translating, Ned!

Momus (Momus), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 19:24 (twenty years ago)

Holgertron!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 20:32 (twenty years ago)

Last night, I was taking a shortcut through Soho on my way to the Apple Stores to pick up Percy... when I heard my name, looked over to see anime stripes dashing towards me... and there was Pink! Drinking in a pub off Carnaby St to celebrate her new trainers. Hurrah!

That was so random and unexpected - I take a different shortcut every day! - and so pleasing and happy-making!

The Brocade Fire (kate), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 07:03 (twenty years ago)

Would you be upset if I joked about doing something unpleasant to you now that you're in my city?

~~~~ DODONGO DISLIKES SMOKE ~~~~ (ex machina), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 07:35 (twenty years ago)
Haha, you beat me to it! There were so many points yesterday where I thought I'd done something or was going to go something & they all came true. One of them was seeing you Kate!
Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 07:51 (twenty years ago)
It was fate or kismet or something. The randomness of London really does kick up opportunities like that! I was pleased!
The Brocade Fire (kate), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 07:55 (twenty years ago)
Gareth, again. Not surprising as we live fairly near each other - I live on the posh side of Holloway Road and he lives on the grotty side. Bumped into him at Old Street and we shared a 43 home while we agreed that 271 was much the better bus - statistics provided by London Transport prove you are less likely to be stabbed by a chip-throwing madman on the 271. I have to say, however, that the fact that Gareth was eating chips when he boarded the bus must have sent a temporary shiver running down some of the passengers' spines and, in fact, out of earshot of Gareth, I heard some drunken guy snarl "Chips!" as he stumbled up the stairs...
Raymond Douglas Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 23 September 2005 10:18 (twenty years ago)
"Suspect" shot on London bus
...
Police defended their shoot on-sight policy, saying Mr Lee "was acting in a manner which led us to believe he could have been a danger to others."
When questioned futher police chiefs looked shifty and said: "well, he was eating chips, just like the last guy!"
Anna (Anna), Friday, 23 September 2005 10:32 (twenty years ago)
I saw what he was eating last night and believe me he was far more of a danger to himself than he was to others....
Raymond Douglas Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 23 September 2005 10:34 (twenty years ago)
He generally is.
