translate it to real temperature u savage

the clodding of the american mind (darraghmac), Monday, 12 March 2018 20:20 (eight years ago)

One of the things I hated most about being stuck in Boston for two weeks was seeing everyone carrying 32oz iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts. What a horrible, horrible thing to buy and then walk around carrying. And they like Tom Brady. Fucking savages.

brotherlovesdub, Monday, 12 March 2018 20:24 (eight years ago)

I'm from Boston and I can't defend Dunkin D coffee. It's absurdly overrated.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Monday, 12 March 2018 20:54 (eight years ago)

i grew up in boston and i love at least the concept of a giant sugary ice coffee lol

lag∞n, Monday, 12 March 2018 21:04 (eight years ago)

walking around with one of those units anything is possible

lag∞n, Monday, 12 March 2018 21:04 (eight years ago)

i hate the classic single-wall plastic keepcups but i have to admit i'm drawn to their new glass-n-cork model

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Monday, 12 March 2018 21:17 (eight years ago)

it's true, if you get a giant coffee that's loaded with really concentrated brew and sugar, you're going to be super hyped

mh, Monday, 12 March 2018 21:26 (eight years ago)

two days til cof day

and i bring to you cof experiment

He tried Kirkland and McCafé. But they weren’t drinking it. So he secretly replaced the McDonald’s coffee in the office kitchen with Starbucks to see if his staff noticed.

...

Once Slutsky secretly switched back to Starbucks, consumption immediately doubled.

“I don’t remember a time in our office that the coffee maker was used so much, throughout the entire morning and afternoon,” Slutsky said. “There was always a fresh pot. And there was never coffee left in the pot for more than 20 minutes.”

However, the experiment ended after a couple of days, when employees found the empty Starbucks bags. After discovering the subterfuge, they immediately reverted to complaining about the taste.

mh, Tuesday, 13 March 2018 18:06 (eight years ago)

I don't care how bad the office coffee is, I still will drink all of it if it's free.

Yerac, Tuesday, 13 March 2018 18:10 (eight years ago)

love free cof, we upgraded our keuring selection and now we have like 12 or 13 diff k cups

"One of the things I hated most about being stuck in Boston for two weeks was seeing everyone carrying 32oz iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts. What a horrible, horrible thing to buy and then walk around carrying. "

What a bizarre thing to say. You ok, dude? (DD isn't my preference and I don't think it's good coffee but I'll drink it if I need some and it's the closest place around.)

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 15:29 (eight years ago)

We currently have brewed Peet's coffee, a kuerig, and an espresso machine and are now possibly getting cold brew on tap. This would all be great if people weren't completely insane about the coffee and if it wasn't part of my job to track the coffee consumption and listen to people talk all day about what they do or don't like about the coffee and what other kinds they'd prefer or think we should get. SHUT UP AND DRINK ONE OF THE 20 KINDS WE ALREADY HAVE IT IS FREE FFS.

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 15:30 (eight years ago)

With a heavy heart I put it to the thread: what is the best k-cup? Because I feel like I'm never going to come up with a better and more efficient solution that pleases everyone, as per that article.

Out of the ones we have, Donut Shop and Eight O Clock are tolerable. I also thought the Bustelo one I had once was ok.

Fedora Dostoyevsky (man alive), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 15:31 (eight years ago)

xpost I much prefer DD to Starbucks. I hate paying a lot for coffee or waiting in line for it. I kind of like how in the US it's ok to carry around your coffee. I am super mindful to not do that in other countries so I don't look like an in your face tourist.

Yerac, Wednesday, 14 March 2018 15:31 (eight years ago)

Make them file all coffee-related comments in writing, with supporting documentation xp

valorous wokelord (silby), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 15:32 (eight years ago)

Also I had a roommate once that she and her boyfriend were just...ugh about their coffee. They only used a chemex pour over and even if I had just used the electric kettle and told her there was water in there, she would pour it all out and start over because the temperature/water had to be perfect. Every single time.

Yerac, Wednesday, 14 March 2018 15:33 (eight years ago)

It’s important to have some chill but imo it’s reasonable to adhere to pointlessly specific rituals

valorous wokelord (silby), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 15:34 (eight years ago)

Like coffee is 40% caffeine, 60% pointless ritual

valorous wokelord (silby), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 15:35 (eight years ago)

It’s even more skewed towards ritual for tea

valorous wokelord (silby), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 15:35 (eight years ago)

I obviously hate all rituals that waste water and electricity.

valorous wokelord (silby), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 17:06 (eight years ago)

many xposts to man alive, my sister in law has had a keurig for a few years now and she loved the green mountain coffee cups. and she was quite a fan of tullys for a while too.

tea rituals uuuuugggh
i love tea but if the "ritual" is anything more than tea + hot water + steep for x minutes then I'm out

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 18:53 (eight years ago)

Dude I remember you discussing your teabag allocation method with no small degree of reverence xp

the clodding of the american mind (darraghmac), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 18:54 (eight years ago)

It doesn’t have to be a difficult ritual to be a ritual

valorous wokelord (silby), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 18:55 (eight years ago)

Come spend 28 minutes listening to bird song and waiting for your tea.
