i find it really hard to believe those two are related tbh

i'd probably stop short of wishing death upong them tho

Their ditties about family life are like Marmite - you either love them or hate them.

suggest one of these options is untrue

Finnegans woke (Noodle Vague), Friday, 9 March 2018 14:59 (eight years ago)

flo and joan are bad but still better than the previous nationwide ad campaign where people recited their horrible poems

soref, Friday, 9 March 2018 15:05 (eight years ago)

on a sliding scale of horror you're right, gotta admit i find them more ignorable than fully noxious

Finnegans woke (Noodle Vague), Friday, 9 March 2018 15:06 (eight years ago)

oh jesus those poetry ads were like a glimpse into hell

flo and joan are basically an nth-generation photocopy of garfunkel and oates, who are (as with all musical comedians) already bad

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Friday, 9 March 2018 15:19 (eight years ago)

"Can the sisters from the Nationwide adverts please die a horrible death," raged one annoyed viewer.

I don't remember writing this tbh.

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Friday, 9 March 2018 15:22 (eight years ago)

ambushed by a whole sequence of WOWCHERs yesterday (while watching australian masterchef 2016, so i still come out the winner)

mark s, Friday, 9 March 2018 15:27 (eight years ago)

yeah those wowcher adverts are really bad

Algerian Goalkeeper (Odysseus), Friday, 9 March 2018 15:28 (eight years ago)

lol i quite like the sisters -- in a not-as-bad-as-ppl-are-saying kind of way -- but then i will also fiercely stan for pam ayres, fite me

(the poems were unbearable though)

mark s, Friday, 9 March 2018 15:31 (eight years ago)

itt: mark s fiercely stans for pam ayres while acknowledging her poems were unbearable

I’m 16 and a member of UKIP’s youth wing, young independence (bizarro gazzara), Friday, 9 March 2018 15:33 (eight years ago)

Shpock it.

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Friday, 9 March 2018 15:35 (eight years ago)

I know I'm old now but I don't think I know what Wowcher and Shpock are for.

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Friday, 9 March 2018 15:37 (eight years ago)

pam's poems are good not bad, the poetry ads = vice versa

shpock it is worse than wowchers

mark s, Friday, 9 March 2018 15:38 (eight years ago)

wowchers = getting stuff
shpock it = selling it again

mark s, Friday, 9 March 2018 15:39 (eight years ago)

Vinted = sloaney mum version of Shpock apparently

Finnegans woke (Noodle Vague), Friday, 9 March 2018 15:48 (eight years ago)

bcz i (correctly) watch a fvckton of marple and midsomer, i see a lot of ads for (i) the alleviation of various conditions, (ii) stairlifts, (iii) cruises

some of them are american ads overdubbed but in all of them the acting is weirdly wooden and terrible

mark s, Friday, 9 March 2018 16:05 (eight years ago)

Ditto life assurance and funeral cover ads.

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Friday, 9 March 2018 16:08 (eight years ago)

itt: mark s demonstrates his misunderstanding of the word 'correctly'

I’m 16 and a member of UKIP’s youth wing, young independence (bizarro gazzara), Friday, 9 March 2018 16:10 (eight years ago)

Here's one...

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Friday, 9 March 2018 16:17 (eight years ago)

i like the stairlift ad with Leonard from Butterflies

Algerian Goalkeeper (Odysseus), Friday, 9 March 2018 16:24 (eight years ago)

At least the words to the schpock advert aren't still "schpock schpock schpock schpock-schpock-schpock".

Bimlo Horsewagon became Wheelbarrow Horseflesh (aldo), Saturday, 10 March 2018 00:33 (eight years ago)

They are!

Finnegans woke (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 10 March 2018 00:50 (eight years ago)

Somewhere along the way it morphed into 'shpock it' repeated ad nauseum

koogs, Saturday, 10 March 2018 02:41 (eight years ago)

Looks like money supermarket got fed up of paying actors to be he-man / skeletor.

koogs, Sunday, 11 March 2018 22:35 (eight years ago)

Lurpak wanker is back again

Finnegans woke (Noodle Vague), Monday, 12 March 2018 11:12 (eight years ago)

as the crows around me grows (Noodle Vague), Friday, 16 March 2018 09:16 (eight years ago)

Who the fuck drinks Bud Lite anyway

Colonel Poo, Friday, 16 March 2018 09:26 (eight years ago)

as the crows around me grows (Noodle Vague), Friday, 16 March 2018 09:33 (eight years ago)

organic honey mead douche is kinda funny tho

as the crows around me grows (Noodle Vague), Friday, 16 March 2018 09:34 (eight years ago)

I'm in a pub and some absolute cunts are repeatedly shouting dilly dilly. Reconsidering my position on the death penalty

Colonel Poo, Friday, 16 March 2018 23:07 (eight years ago)

i'd like to thank the Quorn Marketing Board for reading this thread and dubbing out Alan Davies's voice from your advert. the advert and the product are still shit, but i appreciate the gesture.

Cambridge Metallica (Noodle Vague), Friday, 23 March 2018 18:41 (eight years ago)

am i dense for not understanding the 'posh dip' ad? I think I reflexively shut down and stop listening but Mr kinder asked me how it made sense and I didn't know.

kinder, Sunday, 25 March 2018 18:07 (eight years ago)

I assume "posh dip" is a nod at healthy eating, in a bourgeois style, so the point is let them eat let ketchup because the moral purity of Quorn will cover you. But that's the annoyingness of the advert

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 25 March 2018 18:36 (eight years ago)

that's what i thought! but had remembered it as 'healthy dip' when I tried to explain it, not 'posh', which would make sense. But I watched it again (I deserve everything I get) and saw it said posh and posh =/= healthy so I was baffled once again.

I'm reading this to Mr k right now and he's just shaking his head muttering 'it's so, so, shit'. Sorry, Quorn Marketing Board.

kinder, Sunday, 25 March 2018 23:07 (eight years ago)

Posh = code innit?

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 25 March 2018 23:44 (eight years ago)

is this the thread where I express my bottomless dislike for the inescapable avoiders for [LARGE CLIPART OF A ROOSTER, TEEHEE] "Blockers"

aloha darkness my old friend (katherine), Monday, 26 March 2018 12:45 (eight years ago)

speaking of posh, i meant to post this aldi ad when it was inescapable a couple of months ago - feels like there's a dissertation's worth of class signifiers in here

we gather in social groups and disorient ourselves (bizarro gazzara), Monday, 26 March 2018 12:54 (eight years ago)

Katherine, I was going to direct you to the US thread here because I had no idea what you're talking about but apparently it's a film so we'll probably get it here eventually

Colonel Poo, Monday, 26 March 2018 13:09 (eight years ago)

It's already here and I was gonna make a snidey Facebook post about it this weekend. Katherine otm, another milestone on the road to the collapse of western civilization

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Monday, 26 March 2018 13:12 (eight years ago)

bg the latest aldi add with the baroque caricature of smug posh woman in the lift is another level

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Monday, 26 March 2018 13:13 (eight years ago)

huh, hadn't seen the lift one before but just looked it up on youtube

forget a dissertation, there's probably a whole book to be written on aldi using class consciousness in ads to bolster their bottom line

we gather in social groups and disorient ourselves (bizarro gazzara), Monday, 26 March 2018 13:22 (eight years ago)

hey advertising guys, maybe knock it off with the 70s funk on every other fucking ad?

also why the fuck does cooking = big band swing?

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 31 March 2018 22:41 (eight years ago)

Hey Brooke the artist from the film industry why do you laugh after everything you say even when it's not funny?

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 1 April 2018 00:08 (eight years ago)

You just dont expect to hear raining blood by slayer on an advert

Algerian Goalkeeper (Odysseus), Monday, 2 April 2018 12:58 (eight years ago)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFEESVQQGN8

(didn't notice the 'stores nationwide' thing until just now so the whole thing just seemed like an advert for going outside)

(NB dog isn't really talking)

koogs, Friday, 13 April 2018 15:49 (eight years ago)

not as bad as the singing toddler

you're my luger not my rifle (Noodle Vague), Friday, 13 April 2018 15:52 (eight years ago)

Diet Coke woman: "I bet I can make the most obnoxious ad of the year"

Diet Coke man: "HOLD MY DRINK"
