NEW CHIMP THREAT (bizarro gazzara), Friday, 2 March 2018 15:45 (eight years ago)

pls, pls, pls can cum town start calling itself something else so I can begin contemplating engaging with it

imago, Friday, 2 March 2018 15:48 (eight years ago)

i’ve tried reel politik a couple of times and find the hosts super-irritating :(

Less bothered about the hosts than the editor putting bits of EVERY SINGLE THING THEY REFERENCE in, makes it borderline unlistenable.

Daniel_Rf, Friday, 2 March 2018 16:37 (eight years ago)

jesus that backpack
i cannot believe ppl on here defend that trash

It's not delivery, it's Adorno! (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 2 March 2018 17:11 (eight years ago)

the name is the least objectionable element of cum town

khat person (jim in vancouver), Friday, 2 March 2018 17:17 (eight years ago)

I'm not defending it, but I'm also not lining up to call an adjacent podcast indefensible

Whiney G. Weingarten, Friday, 2 March 2018 17:18 (eight years ago)

the little cum town i listened to i genuinely found parts of it completely hilarious but the surfeit of ethnic voices, stuff about "retarded people", calling adam gay, and a whole other variety of transgressive bullshit was just waaaay too much for me to handle

khat person (jim in vancouver), Friday, 2 March 2018 17:32 (eight years ago)

surfeit of ethnic voices

um maybe it's their turn to speak?? getta load of this white guy needs all the air over here

sleepingbag, Friday, 2 March 2018 17:35 (eight years ago)

Um

Never mind

scotti pruitti (wins), Friday, 2 March 2018 17:36 (eight years ago)

Tbf, that’s the subreddit, where even fans on the DBHQ Discord refuse to go.

Glower, Disruption & Pies (kingfish), Tuesday, 6 March 2018 00:36 (eight years ago)

I lurk there because it's a decent link aggregator, I don't see that much discussion of the podcast at all much less the obsession Amber and Will assume.

louise ck (milo z), Tuesday, 6 March 2018 00:50 (eight years ago)

oh it's there

flappy bird, Tuesday, 6 March 2018 01:26 (eight years ago)

mostly in the comments of the links to the episodes themselves

flappy bird, Tuesday, 6 March 2018 01:26 (eight years ago)

couldn't help noticing my sweet boy felix was locked out of the 'grownups talk politics' section of the latest episode again

mind you once they let him back in again he sure doubled down on obscure rappers and hideo kojima references

bathed and ready for a snack (bizarro gazzara), Tuesday, 6 March 2018 09:56 (eight years ago)

i just noticed a new episode of scumbag pop up on my phone, i dunno if he's on it or not yet but there's that

flippy bard (Will M.), Tuesday, 6 March 2018 15:29 (eight years ago)

Latest Scumbag is Zitron talking to Vincent D’Onofrio

Glower, Disruption & Pies (kingfish), Tuesday, 6 March 2018 17:45 (eight years ago)

How many people here are actually on DBHQ? I’m on there in a decidedly non-lurker fashion

Glower, Disruption & Pies (kingfish), Tuesday, 6 March 2018 17:46 (eight years ago)

I don't even know what that is!

Simon H., Tuesday, 6 March 2018 17:49 (eight years ago)

based that clip alone [not even judging their name] i can't imagine being a person who listens to cum town

Mordy, Tuesday, 6 March 2018 17:53 (eight years ago)

it takes all kinds

flappy bird, Tuesday, 6 March 2018 17:54 (eight years ago)

yeah apparently it takes dumb assholes too

Mordy, Tuesday, 6 March 2018 17:54 (eight years ago)

absolutely

flappy bird, Tuesday, 6 March 2018 17:59 (eight years ago)

what Will says approx. 44 min into the latest episode about how private schools are more laid-back is completely wrong, everything they said prior to that about public schools putting insane amounts of pressure on very young kids and making them incredibly anxious absolutely happens in private schools. speaking from experience. all that stuff they said about kids in 3rd grade being warned about getting into AP classes and good colleges is everywhere in private schools. Assuming he went to a private school in Manhattan (like me), I'm surprised he had that take. I also went to a Quaker school for HS, and it was not 'laid-back' though obviously not the under-funded and militaristic environment of public schools.

flappy bird, Tuesday, 6 March 2018 18:04 (eight years ago)

i love my daughter's public school it's great

It's not delivery, it's Adorno! (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 6 March 2018 18:40 (eight years ago)

yeah that whole segment on parenting and uh steel manufacturing(??) saw them veer a little too far out of their lane. the actual interview with the striking teacher was great, though, and I almost spat out my coffee when he said that his preferred outcome would be "...a worker's republic?"

Simon H., Tuesday, 6 March 2018 18:47 (eight years ago)

yea the interview was good

flappy bird, Tuesday, 6 March 2018 18:55 (eight years ago)

The DBHQ is the Dirtbag HQ, the Chapo-adjacent discord server.

Glower, Disruption & Pies (kingfish), Tuesday, 6 March 2018 22:02 (eight years ago)

Friend of the pod and the closest thing there is to a dirtbag on staff at a mainstream paper Liz Bruenig finally throws down the "s" word, invoking both Andrew Sullivan and Mark Fisher in the process.
