When she raised her concern about her mother’s disapproval to Trump, he replied, “What, that old hag?” (McDougal, hurt, pointed out that Trump and her mother were close in age.)

lol

It's grim fun to remember the second Republican debate, where everyone was so frckin smug about "no one here is being investigated by the FBI."

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2018/02/16/more-than-40-percent-of-trumps-cabinet-level-picks-have-faced-ethical-or-other-controversies/?hpid=hp_rhp-more-top-stories_fix-ethics-920a%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.76c8c517ce54

Now that the gaze is turned on these mousefuckers, apparently being investigated is no big deal; in fact it's indicative of how committed to freedom you are. The Swamp is conspiring to bring down these valiant defenders of freedom1!!!eleven!.

Rubio: "None of our candidates is under FBI investigation."

Jeb!: "Here's the problem. If she gets elected, she's under investigation with the FBI right now."

Spicer: "tough to get excited about someone under FBI investigation."

Priebus: "Dems struggle to choose between a self-declared socialist & someone who's under FBI investigation"

Conway: "we've not nominated someone under FBI investigation"

Wow, we sure did dodge a bullet there. We almost elected someone who allegedly mishandled classified information!

You laugh at 24 grandkids, but there have been some close elections these days, every vote counts! You could breed your own voting block.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 16 February 2018 15:46 (eight years ago)

Regarding all those infidelity accusations, I don't see why most of these women don't go even more public and detailed. They are not going to be sued, because that would involve all sorts of discovery and testimony under oath. If you're a pornstar or a Playmate of the Year who had a public affair with married Trump, what's left to be ashamed of? I guess there's the threat of violence from the usual suspects.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 16 February 2018 15:48 (eight years ago)

These 'distraction' stories have me upping Mike Bloomberg's suspicion of the likelihood of Yam's reelection from 55% to 60%

God Bless the Resistance

ice cream social justice (Dr Morbius), Friday, 16 February 2018 15:50 (eight years ago)

Well, if you publicly air an affair with Trump, you're obviously a liar and will be branded as such. And not even the good kind of liar whose ceaseless stream of untruths is totally copacetic. I'm talking about the bad kind of liar, the kind who says things that are true but unsavory to the good liars.

I Wanna Be A Door (Old Lunch), Friday, 16 February 2018 15:52 (eight years ago)

We need an upgrade on 'Yam' I think. He seems to have totally dispelled with the bronzer in recent months and now looks more like, I dunno, a soggy baozi?

Well, if you publicly air an affair with Trump, you're obviously a liar and will be branded as such

it seems like team trump hasn't even pushed back particularly hard on this - the feeling seems to be more 'yeah you know as well as we do that committed infidelity, who gives a shit'

albondigas con gas (bizarro gazzara), Friday, 16 February 2018 16:04 (eight years ago)

wonder if they'll constantly ask Melania why she's sticking with Donald the same way they did to Hillary

frogbs, Friday, 16 February 2018 16:05 (eight years ago)

when was the last time melania was interviewed tho

albondigas con gas (bizarro gazzara), Friday, 16 February 2018 16:06 (eight years ago)

Would love for her to do a prime time interview. In Slovenian.

Hunt3r, Friday, 16 February 2018 16:20 (eight years ago)

god I know this gets lost in the nonstop circus that has been the last two years but Melania Trump going on TV and claiming that her signature First Lady initiative would be "cyberbullying" is just the most amazing thing

frogbs, Friday, 16 February 2018 16:23 (eight years ago)

if you publicly air an affair with Trump, you're obviously a liar

Bizarro is right. There are actually three responses, and all of them work out just fine for Trump.

1. Who cares? We don't need the president to be a national pastor or moral exemplar, we need a fighter with cojones who will Get Shit Done.

2. Whataboutism. Where was this outrage back when Bill Clinton told Juanita Broaddrick to "put some ice on that" or stained the sacred Blue Dress?

3. Deniability. Well, he denies it, and what is this anyway - a witch hunt? Where is the due process? We're supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. Guilt by accusation is the new McCarthyism blah blah blah; lives and careers are being destroyed over a mere allegation.

Again, he's covered no matter which path one chooses. I'm not saying it's a bad story to keep in the public eye, I just don't see it damaging Trump significantly.

persona non gratin (Ye Mad Puffin), Friday, 16 February 2018 16:23 (eight years ago)

alphas gonna alpha folks, what are u gonna do

the only way i could see this maybe damaging trump even a little is if it turned out that he's actually totally asexual and has been paying women to pretend they've slept with him

albondigas con gas (bizarro gazzara), Friday, 16 February 2018 16:26 (eight years ago)

it's not going to matter one whit unless it was revealed he was fucking kids. and even then...

constitutional crises they fly at u face (will), Friday, 16 February 2018 16:30 (eight years ago)

xpost lol, otm. Any scandal with the potential to compromise his support will have to be something that his base finds repulsive or pathetic rather than something they themselves would love to get in on.

I Wanna Be A Door (Old Lunch), Friday, 16 February 2018 16:31 (eight years ago)

Which is why I don't understand why people aren't consistently trying to get more mileage out of old clips of Trump saying complimentary things about various Dems. Inexcusable!

I Wanna Be A Door (Old Lunch), Friday, 16 February 2018 16:32 (eight years ago)

"i do not condone the President fucking little kids and obviously it's an unhelpful distraction when we're trying to accomplish so much for the American people"

constitutional crises they fly at u face (will), Friday, 16 February 2018 16:33 (eight years ago)

when your guiding philosophy is "let the big dogs eat" sexual assault, wanton infidelity and even shooting sprees are not really off-message

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Friday, 16 February 2018 16:34 (eight years ago)

lol guys his approval rating is steadily going up, this is gonna do nothing just like everything else

I mean the guy raped and beat his wife because he got bad hair implants, do you seriously think something's gonna come out that's worse than that

frogbs, Friday, 16 February 2018 16:36 (eight years ago)

god I know this gets lost in the nonstop circus that has been the last two years but Melania Trump going on TV and claiming that her signature First Lady initiative would be "cyberbullying" is just the most amazing thing

lol i'd forgotten about this - still can't work out whether it's an exquisitely-barbed swing at her husband or just catastrophic obliviousness

either way she doesn't seem to have done much to advance the cause

albondigas con gas (bizarro gazzara), Friday, 16 February 2018 16:36 (eight years ago)

i suspect she's never once actually given a second thought to cyber-bullying and instead it was simply a WH-concocted troll

constitutional crises they fly at u face (will), Friday, 16 February 2018 16:41 (eight years ago)

sounds like a something straight from the brain of that rascal Stephen Miller

constitutional crises they fly at u face (will), Friday, 16 February 2018 16:42 (eight years ago)

Given the 'fox not even pretending to guard the henhouse that he actually overtly intends to treat like an all-you-can-eat buffet' nature of this administration, I can only imagine that Melania has years if not decades of hardcore cyberbullying under her belt.

I Wanna Be A Door (Old Lunch), Friday, 16 February 2018 16:45 (eight years ago)

careful, melania successfully sued the daily mail for suggesting she was involved in hardcore stuff below the belt
