flo and joan are bad but still better than the previous nationwide ad campaign where people recited their horrible poems
― soref, Friday, 9 March 2018 15:05 (eight years ago)
on a sliding scale of horror you're right, gotta admit i find them more ignorable than fully noxious
― Finnegans woke (Noodle Vague), Friday, 9 March 2018 15:06 (eight years ago)
oh jesus those poetry ads were like a glimpse into hell
flo and joan are basically an nth-generation photocopy of garfunkel and oates, who are (as with all musical comedians) already bad

ambushed by a whole sequence of WOWCHERs yesterday (while watching australian masterchef 2016, so i still come out the winner)
― mark s, Friday, 9 March 2018 15:27 (eight years ago)
yeah those wowcher adverts are really bad
― Algerian Goalkeeper (Odysseus), Friday, 9 March 2018 15:28 (eight years ago)
lol i quite like the sisters -- in a not-as-bad-as-ppl-are-saying kind of way -- but then i will also fiercely stan for pam ayres, fite me
(the poems were unbearable though)
― mark s, Friday, 9 March 2018 15:31 (eight years ago)

― Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Friday, 9 March 2018 15:37 (eight years ago)
pam's poems are good not bad, the poetry ads = vice versa
shpock it is worse than wowchers
― mark s, Friday, 9 March 2018 15:38 (eight years ago)
wowchers = getting stuff shpock it = selling it again
― mark s, Friday, 9 March 2018 15:39 (eight years ago)

― Finnegans woke (Noodle Vague), Friday, 9 March 2018 15:48 (eight years ago)
bcz i (correctly) watch a fvckton of marple and midsomer, i see a lot of ads for (i) the alleviation of various conditions, (ii) stairlifts, (iii) cruises
some of them are american ads overdubbed but in all of them the acting is weirdly wooden and terrible
― mark s, Friday, 9 March 2018 16:05 (eight years ago)
Ditto life assurance and funeral cover ads.

i'd like to thank the Quorn Marketing Board for reading this thread and dubbing out Alan Davies's voice from your advert. the advert and the product are still shit, but i appreciate the gesture.
― Cambridge Metallica (Noodle Vague), Friday, 23 March 2018 18:41 (eight years ago)
am i dense for not understanding the 'posh dip' ad? I think I reflexively shut down and stop listening but Mr kinder asked me how it made sense and I didn't know.
― kinder, Sunday, 25 March 2018 18:07 (eight years ago)
I assume "posh dip" is a nod at healthy eating, in a bourgeois style, so the point is let them eat let ketchup because the moral purity of Quorn will cover you. But that's the annoyingness of the advert
― bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 25 March 2018 18:36 (eight years ago)
that's what i thought! but had remembered it as 'healthy dip' when I tried to explain it, not 'posh', which would make sense. But I watched it again (I deserve everything I get) and saw it said posh and posh =/= healthy so I was baffled once again.I'm reading this to Mr k right now and he's just shaking his head muttering 'it's so, so, shit'. Sorry, Quorn Marketing Board.
