only if it improves their position, trading pieces is a great way to stay ahead, particularly trading queens decreases variance, unless u just want your queen for fun in which case whos to argue

i just got clobbered by an opening called the Blackburne Shilling Gambit which i have never seen before and was quite humiliating to lose to. should've been easy to fend off if i knew what to look for...

u cld def get pretty far in blitz just by memorizing a single obscure not totally fundamentally sound opening

feel like ive seen that with the one where u sacrifice a couple pawns cant remember if it q or k side i fell for it once and got wrecked then saw it a couple more times and didnt take the second pawn and there was def a long pause on the other side

i always play scandi against king's pawn opening and the length of time it takes the person to decide indicates whether they accept the pawn sacrifice (the right, quick move), or move the pawn to e5 (the wrong move)

ppl are so wary of accepting pawn sacs (i mean rightly so)

btw i've complained about this on the other chess thread i'm pretty sure but i'm always shocked at how shitty the attitude and behavior of some of these players are considering that you'd figure chess attracts a more sophisticated thinker?
