The market was more or less priced for the tax cuts before the tax bill passed anyway. It's only lately they've started thinking about the macro-economic effects of a massive stimulus in a full employment economy, instead of just the big injection of short term corporate profits.

I don't think it's always all that calculated (what these fuckers say to whom when). If we're like trying to read the tea leaves about who said what where. Sometimes it's just ham-handed stupid obvious pandering (Trump telling cops not to guide the heads of suspects through car doors). Sometimes someone accidentally says what they're really thinking (Romney saying almost half the people are irredeemably lazy).

If sometimes someone (in this case Sessions) accidentally says an actual real true thing that undercuts the overall GOPgenda of racism and greed? Maybe it was s sly staff member. Maybe on alternate Tuesdays he's a really woke dude and an ally? Who knows, who cares. The policies are still shitty.

if even sessions has to say this, i wonder if we're actually reaching the point where ppl will finally quit saying "ya know, the civil war wasn't really about slavery" which is at once a classic crazy right-wing meme and also the sort of thing you weirdly still hear from ppl of all political persuasions, sometimes in a "you can't trust what you're taught in school!" kind of way and sometimes in an "all wars are based on total lies!" kind of way.

It's surreal how the NRA has given up all pretense of being anything but fascists - they've been that way since the '70s but it was still surprising and controversial when they called federal law enforcement jack-booted thugs and even into the 2000s there was some cover of just being a group that was really into guns.
