loved two first time round but every subsequent watch it got more and more a parody of everything that made john woo quite awful

two is ok but it's from some alternate universe where the series was going to be about experiments in tone by different directors and not a spy caper/chase scene rollercoaster

two is a freaking gun and motorbike opera. it’s great. who gives a shit if it’s tonally dissonant with the rest of the series

mind you his appearance in mi2 saved us from the horrifying prospect of a dougray scott wolverine so it's not all bad

It's not an easy thing to admit, but I salute you.

It's kind of the Halloween 3 of the franchise. It probably should've just been its own thing, in which case I would be less likely to harshly judge it alongside an array of movies that rule.

I thought "Rogue Nation" was a big letdown after Brad Bird's take. Just felt TV movie-like and mechanical. So I'm surprised same director, etc on this one getting raves.

bg correct about face/off which is bigger than mere ranking, it is the actual tetsuofication of an entire genre

I wasn't talking iii -- Brad Bird's was "Ghost Protocol" which is infinitely more fun and stylish than "Rogue Nation". By some distance.

Knight and Day is awful

all wrong god help me all wrong and what a mess

ghost protocol is fine, but it has all kind of inverted emphasis.typically the weird stunts and physical stuff are supposed to be in service of the caper part, and the most memorable action scenes to me are the cars falling at the end, cruise doing all kinds of acrobatics to get out of jail. neither of which is directly caper-related!

the actual caper parts are like trying to distract the indian businessman and slowly rolling a decoy rig through a hallway

it also seems weird that the title is basically "this is what happens when you're disavowed" but Hunt gets disavowed or ditched in every damn movie

Knight and day really remarkably bad

That was the thing that bothered me about the last one I saw, he was in basically every scene doing his hilarious jokes we all love so much and I was just this is too much screen time for this character

he's in there a bit too much, but he's the personality and tom is the face. unfortunately that's what we get
