I saw someone say that the key to twitter is to mute people the second they annoy you in any way. I think there might be something to that.

enh I don't follow people that bug me, but this seems to be a problem many other people have. (occasionally people I follow do RT annoying accounts, though)

You can prevent a specific account's retweets from showing in your feed

I turned off all the follow notifications! I think I went through a while back to stop a few advertising bots from following me, but other than that I pay no attention to who has followed/unfollowed

The corollary is to mute people as soon as YOU annoy THEM in any way. That leaves them screaming into the void.

Ironically one of the best phrases to mute is "echo chamber"

whenever ppl unfollow me im all it mustve been the constant stream of bad tweets, on a side note with twitter being so algorithmic and showing so many tweets from ppl you dont follow and so forth i wonder if it affects the feed differently to mute or unfollow, soft block is always also an option too less likely to get caught than the straight unfollow but if you are oh boy, u can try to blame the unfollow bug i guess but idk if ppl are still falling for that

just when u go to their profile to look at all their tweets and the follows you badge isnt there, tho some ppl prob use an app which is psychotic

sometimes its a blessing tho when you notice a mutual unfollowed you cause you wanted to unfollow them but were too polite

pretty sure there's at least one third party site/app that takes a snapshot of your followers on either an interval or when you check it, and says "this person added, these people left"

I use muting like a timeout. Tweetbot can do 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, forever. Say @brokentoothfacebluewhat won’t shut up about daylight saving time, I mute them for a week. Especially if I generally like them otherwise.

daylight savings time is an important topic tho

some ppl are bad at discussing it properly

a former co-worker of mine who i'm p friendly with (we aren't direct friends but share a lot of friends and always chat when we see each other) likes my tweets but doesn't follow me. absolutely psychotic

They’ve banned Strange Animals and Round Boys - presumably on the basis that they were both posting copyrighted photos of wildlife. If that’s something they’re going to crack down on properly, they’re going to have their work cut out.
