I can understand believing in free markets or being sociallt conservative or whatever but like sucking up to the boy king so your patrons get paid? It’s revolting

What I've read so far by Schiff (or his staff, which would amount to the same thing here) has been sharp and concise. However, at 11 pages written for internal consumption by the committee, it may be too lawyerly and exhaustive for public comprehension.

I don’t believe they believe that. I’m not even one of these anti-market people — I see how liberalized economies create more wealth even as they have many other disruptive/destructive effects — but I don’t believe they think making wealth even more concentrated than it is will have a transformative effect. And even if it did, they’re debasing themselves by doing Trump’s bidding.

in their own way they are very proud. republicans are a tribe who don't care what the rest of us think. they admire the leaders of their tribe (kochs, bradleys, coors, mellon-scaifes, mercers, etc), seeking to augment the power of their leaders, and everyone else may as well be subhuman

dude if you give rich people tax breaks they will open more businesses and take more risks to create great new products and industries. and then that creates jobs and a dynamic economy! it might LOOK like concentrating wealth to a poor blinkered slob like you, and maybe at first it is, but eventually it's gon damn well trickle on down and the rising tide's gonna lift all the boats. that money will find its natural location and get invested in a market-driven way instead of being PLANNED socialistically which we all know if inefficient and useless. what, are POOR people going to create new businesses?? lol!!!!

the particular kind of elected fiscal-conservative ideologues you're talking about don't need to believe their policies will have transformative effects though, because they systematically refuse to believe our society has any fundamental problems in need of transforming, except that all individual poor people each raise their children wrong, and so forth. oh and government taking their money. but the potential waiting to be unlocked is just, you know, some more money, not some shower of benefits turning a lifeless planet into a green blooming world.

Seems as likely to be a pretext for plausible deniability when Trump shitcans Rosentein. so the NYT is reporting that trump's advisors are advising him against doing an interview with mueller. not sure why this is push-alert worthy, since of course his lawyers wouldn't want him to do it.

you're right. that's not surprising at all. the Mueller investigation is just a subject the NYT knows people are eager to read about and there is not a surplus of news there, given how tight a ship Mueller has been running, so the NYT pushes out whatever meager scraps are available as if they meant more than they do.

The thing about the Trump/Mueller 'please no interview' news is that it's reflective of a split between Cobb and Dowd -- worth remembering that Cobb represents the executive branch as such where Dowd/Sekulow represent Trump personally. As the story notes, Cobb's happy to cooperate/share info etc, where Dowd/Sekulow are going "ARRRGH NO."

it's also newsworthy because the alternative is p much subpoena, grand jury
