chapo brand maximization is sort of offputting.

like I can't fault them for the fact that people keep throwing money at them for the podcast itself, but the book, shirts etc just feel crass

I have many issues with chapo but them selling t’s isn’t one of them. did they make a fugazi style anti merch pronouncement?

The careerist/cash-in moves are amusing, not for any political reason but just because they were all about making fun of the way other podcasts have run (stamps.com ads, etc.).

Not the Chapos so much as other left twitter/Jacobin writer types but there are reminders that left-wing media people are still fundamentally media people with the need for attention/audience and career goals that entails.

This show would be a rare case where a book is entirely consistent both with the subject matter and backgrounds of the hosts.
