A few years ago I bought one because they had released a Big Trouble in Little China set. It was me and my wife's favorite movie and I wanted to pick her up the Gracie Law one. So I walked up to my local comic shop and asked "so where are the Big Trouble in Little China bobbleheads?" And the guy said, nicely but still as a corrective, "they're not bobbleheads, they're Funko POP!" And right then and there I decided I was just gonna get that one.

Never going to be in a position to judge anyone for collecting weird shit, but I just find them visually so appealing? Also the first pic just gave me a mental image of waking up suddenly in the night and seeing all those dead black eyes staring at you. No wonder they have an agreement, where the hell does her stuff go?!

i think the funko figures of my youth were all super detailed mcfarlane toys; dunno if that's more or less defensible.
― Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Friday, 19 January 2018 16:50 (eight years ago)
I feel like those scratch a slightly different itch unless you're so far down the rabbit hole you just collect everything from a particular vendor
I've got to give mcfarlane credit, their toy quality was a heck of a lot better out of the gate than their comic quality

yea that's a good article
reminds me of an argument I had where someone was praising Trump admin's "red team blue team" idea to stage a "public debate" on climate change, where I said the entire idea was idiotic because you're giving equal time to people who make up facts and argue in bad faith and we might as well give equal airtime to the flat earthers as well. but that's this modern world for ya!!!

This is brilliant (especially the idea that he's spending his time collecting photos of "really attractive guys with mostly their shirts off" and apparently thinks he's still 100% heterosexual) but what is this 'braincels'? Obviously some offshoot of the incels, but something to do with CoD Black Ops? I could find this out for myself but really don't want to.

/r/braincels is just /r/incels redux, and the Black Ops 2 thing is a reference to this picture of a guy wearing a Black Ops 2 t-shirt. He's become a sort of incel world mascot, I guess because they think he, whoever he is, looks like the prototypical incel. They sometimes treat him as a mythic figure and refer to him as St. BlackOps2cel.

So there's a new "redesign" today or am I just only seeing it for the first time for some reason? I don't get it, it's like they just switched to a slightly different version of shitty circa-2003 web design.

It's like they made a car everyone thought was really ugly and they were like "we hear you, and we're going back to the drawing board" and then they just come out with the same car but it has different wheel covers and headlamps
