There was a thread recently with a Ned Raggett post recently about wanting to avoid feeling like a curmudgeon and keep up with the new, but also kind of feeling like a curmudgeon at the same time.

That's all I can remember -- maybe the thread was about all of the music available on the internet nowadays, or something about keeping up with new styles, but I'm not sure. Anyone?

Where's the thread for nirvana/kurt cobain references in hip hop lyrics?

What's up with MCs doing shout-outs to Kurt Cobain?

Marmotdeth (marmotwolof), Friday, 2 June 2006 00:30 (twenty years ago)

hip-hop songs that reference nirvana or kurt cobain

Marmotdeth (marmotwolof), Friday, 2 June 2006 00:32 (twenty years ago)

Jon, I most likely listen to more rap than you do. Or is it forbidden for me to talk about it 'cause I'm not American?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 2 June 2006 08:42 (twenty years ago)

OMG somebody find those threads where we acted like these bands that Alex in NYC made up actually existed!

You also probably suck more dicks than I do. (in saunas)

Courtney Gidts (ex machina), Friday, 2 June 2006 20:06 (twenty years ago)

Where was that thread about the raver glowstick cat? More specifically, find me the cat.

IIRC, it was talking about what songs were hits in Finland.

Roxy where is the all-blue thread on 1p3?

jergins (jergins), Thursday, 15 June 2006 07:22 (twenty years ago)

Can anyone find me the thread about that big sinister empty hotel building in North Korea?

(At least, I think it's in North Korea)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 12:14 (twenty years ago)

Believe it or not, that thread was mysteriously deleted!

chrisco (chrisco), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 15:26 (twenty years ago)

The closest I got was a thread where we were all like "WTF where's the thread!?!?".

RFI: Ryugyong hotel

mummy wrapped in bacon (nickalicious), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 15:32 (twenty years ago)

There was a hilarious Ryugyong Hotel/Mount Doom from LOTR photoshop in the orig.

mummy wrapped in bacon (nickalicious), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 15:33 (twenty years ago)

As opposed to, like, Mount Doom, Nebraska or something.

which old thread is the one where Ally posted pics of kittens dressed up and doing various things like in the above photo? Harvey Nicks rip it off 4 years later!

Konal Doddz (blueski), Wednesday, 26 July 2006 12:07 (nineteen years ago)

Surely pics of kittens dressed up and doing various things has been a staple of feliniphile merchandise since Roman times?

Can any of you guys even use the search feature? It hasn't worked AT ALL for me since, like, 2005.

the doaple gonger (nickalicious), Thursday, 27 July 2006 12:04 (nineteen years ago)

If it's something that's come up recently I hazard a guess how long ago it was and use the "new answers from n days ago" thing at the bottom, otherwise I use "site:http://ilx.wh3rd.net" in google searches. Not great but it works.

There was a thread on Spaghetti Westerns, I think it started with DV noting that his favourite is "Naked Django", "not that I've actually seen it of course."

Also, the second "Showcase" thread on ILC!

Spaghetti Westerns: Search/Destroy

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 4 January 2007 12:37 (nineteen years ago)

(which seems to be unindexed by Google, even under the new regime. I don't know how many threads that applies to)

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 4 January 2007 12:39 (nineteen years ago)

I'm not sure there was an actual second Showcase Presents thread, I think it was another thread that got completely derailed.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 4 January 2007 13:13 (nineteen years ago)

There was! It was called, like, "Showcase Reprezent! Pt.2" or something.

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:03 (nineteen years ago)

This is as close as I can find.

Where did the "Link to Mad Shit on Youtube Here" thread go? It was full of GOLD and now it's gone!

I used to be able to find the O.C. thread by Googling "peter gallagher's eyebrows" + "amateurist," but that doesn't work anymore and Direct ILX Search doesn't like short words like "the" and, uh, "O.C." Anyone?

jaymc, Monday, 7 May 2007 23:21 (nineteen years ago)

Everyone looking for KITTY thredds. Makes sense.

Abbott, Monday, 7 May 2007 23:23 (nineteen years ago)

Re: The O.C.

http://www.ilxor.com/ILX/ThreadSelectedControllerServlet?boardid=40&threadid=19696

The search does actually look for display names too. This isn't documented, though, so I just looked for amateurist and then scrolled about.

It will work better in the next release ("O.C." should work).

Keith, Monday, 7 May 2007 23:26 (nineteen years ago)

The original of "Fuck Washing a Hat"

The first time of seeing it for me was on an Excelsior thread, but I can't find it there either.

Mark G, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 09:27 (nineteen years ago)

Haha, I had to use the "can someone help me find the thread for when you can't find threads" because I couldn't find it - "can't find" as a direct search didn't pick it up.

Anyway, I cannot find the current Doctor Who thread. "Dr Who", "doctor who", judoon, sontaran, tennant, martha don't pick it up, even macra which I know is in the title.

OTOH I only want to talk about the DVDs announced today so even the "doctor who has lost its way..." thread would do. Search doesn't find that either.
