It actually reminds me a lot of hanging out in the office of my college weekly when I was a freshman and older "cool" dorks were running it, late-night pizza-fueled frustrated howling at idiocy etc.

chapo has the feel of when I went to a comic book shop around 11pm with a group of friends and there was a table of guys role playing in full loud dork mode, and when they saw that a woman had entered the shop they tried to act cool for a few minutes but soon the effort collapsed

I earnestly don't understand what you want the CTH people to do here. they're different podcasts with different aims and some (but hardly total) audience overlap

and again (as a non CT Listener) I think there's a difference between saying "here's a thing that is defensible on grounds of being a Social Good" vs "here's a thing I divert myself with"

but I'm sure all the bands everyone in this thread listens to are morally unimpeachable
