prequels were stupid but harmless. this actively takes a series that ended on a message of non-violence (Luke throwing away his weapon is when he won, he would let the Emperor kill him rather than fight). the new series is like nah, that was bullshit. violence is cool. "The war will always go on." great message.

i mean i enjoyed watching it but it was dumb as fuck and it is annoying to see everyone dismiss that with "lol you aren't good at watching films"

AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 20 December 2017 18:36 (eight years ago)

Do you know what's annoying?

Moodles, Wednesday, 20 December 2017 18:37 (eight years ago)

Are there Last Jedi spoilers happening here? I care about not having this movie spoiled.

jmm, Wednesday, 20 December 2017 18:39 (eight years ago)

Yes, thanks darragh, my passagg approach was not connecting.

Moodles, Wednesday, 20 December 2017 18:40 (eight years ago)

TBF, this confusion could've been circumvented if Rian Johnson hadn't insisted upon the title Star Wars Episode VIII: Things You Just Don't Care About.

Encyclopedia Beige and the Case of the Bland Sandwich (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 20 December 2017 18:41 (eight years ago)

The way I look at it, regardless of topic, if you have to write 20 paragraphs about why you don't care about something, perhaps you are not really in touch with your true feelings

Moodles, Wednesday, 20 December 2017 18:44 (eight years ago)

Mods feel free 2 delete my posts, I said I shouldn't have done it and I shouldn't.

Monster fatberg (Phil D.), Wednesday, 20 December 2017 18:45 (eight years ago)

I just want to give a shout out to all those posters who really don't care about something to the point you haven't even posted about it on here. Respect!

calzino, Wednesday, 20 December 2017 18:45 (eight years ago)

I'm kinda glad I didn't care for the couple of star war films I watched cause it means I don't have to pick a side in the NOT MY GHOSTBUSTERS -vs- omg Kelly Marie Tran stroked a kitten IM WEEPING wars of 17

sonnet by a wite kid, "On Æolian Grief" (wins), Wednesday, 20 December 2017 18:49 (eight years ago)

I despise Star Wars with some considerable energy, so I can't really say I don't care. I've hated it since a child abuser forced me to watch all of them in one marathon sitting in Bradford in the 80's.

calzino, Wednesday, 20 December 2017 18:56 (eight years ago)

adam: start a livejournal for all these feelings having & stop with the cropdusting. you’ve done this on 3 threads so far that I’ve counted. ENOUGH!!!

It's not so much that I don't care (I have friends and family who live there, quite aside from anything else) but I do kinda resent/lament just how much of your shitty dumb politics we all apparently have to know about. Obv this is amplified by the internet but like constant updates on whether an election in Alabama would be won by a paedophile or a non-paedophile, it's pretty wearying - you'd legitimately wonder if we actually did have our own problems sometimes, the inordinate attention paid to this shit over here

tbh it breaks up the wall-to-wall Brexit

Colonel Poo, Wednesday, 20 December 2017 20:27 (eight years ago)

it does

rove mcmanus island (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 20 December 2017 20:28 (eight years ago)

More other things really should break that up. Current events in Philippines seems underreported.

TBF, 'Duterte gunning for title of World's Most Garbage Human' isn't a new development per se.

Mr Jones and what his accomplice get up to in the 90s hit song 'Mr Jones' by Counting Crows as told from the perspective of said accomplice.

I don't know if much has changed over the year but it's such a crazy situation that it deserves a bit more coverage.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Wednesday, 20 December 2017 21:30 (eight years ago)

otm re philippines. if i listed a load of crazy despotic lunatics in world power and left off trump, within seconds someone somewhere would say “you forgot trump”. like anyone on the planet is able to forget that one orange bastard who’s basically the world’s loudest wallpaper.

rove mcmanus island (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 20 December 2017 21:33 (eight years ago)

Well at least today there is a fair bit of reportage on Trump's terrible domestic policies rather than what the cunt says on twitter. But I ignore him about 99% of the time.

calzino, Wednesday, 20 December 2017 21:38 (eight years ago)

We don't really need to hear about Trump's terrible domestic policies is the argument I think.

Whiney Houston (Tom D.), Wednesday, 20 December 2017 21:58 (eight years ago)

yep

rove mcmanus island (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 20 December 2017 22:03 (eight years ago)

well I did say I mostly ignore it. But when it is about solid policy, that has been voted through congress, it piques my interests for about 10 seconds.

calzino, Wednesday, 20 December 2017 22:14 (eight years ago)

this this this this this. so utterly utterly sick of our media covering america like we live there. we do not.

Can't we make some kind of trade where news of US politics never crosses US borders, and we here in the US never have to hear about the fucking British royal family ever again?

grawlix (unperson), Wednesday, 20 December 2017 22:18 (eight years ago)

Fuck that, you can have them as well.

calzino, Wednesday, 20 December 2017 22:20 (eight years ago)

If there was an active Brit poster curated Royal Family thread on here, as opposed to the netflix series, you'd have something to really fucking moan about!

calzino, Wednesday, 20 December 2017 22:29 (eight years ago)

Really looking forward to the BBC drama series which takes a sympathetic look at the Trump presidency, helping to humanize the man and his family.

Whiney Houston (Tom D.), Wednesday, 20 December 2017 22:32 (eight years ago)

What I would love to hear nonstop Brexit talk in the office instead of what the U.S. president has said lately.

pplains, Wednesday, 20 December 2017 23:25 (eight years ago)

"Now get this, she's saying that she ain't so firm on 2019 being a set date anymore."

God I'd love a pplains roundup of daily UK news

Really looking forward to the BBC drama series which takes a sympathetic look at the Trump presidency, helping to humanize the man and his family.

the bbc has a similar problem to the abc here, which is to represent a really fucking awful person/concept/extremist movement as valid and sympathetic in some shitty government-appeasing false portrayal of “balance”. we just had a massive and unnecessary public vote postal survey to determine whether same-sex couples could get married, and the abc spent the whole time talking to fuckhead bigots like they were reasonable people with great ideas. it was fucking repugnant and has basically sealed my mistrust of all public broadcasters.
