A new 30 Rock thread because I can't find the old one

I think this was the best episode of the season and one of the best ever. It was nice to see 30 Rock being kind of weird again.

This episode didn't really do it for me, so I'm surprised that so many seemed to like it so much. Maybe I'll rewatch.

was it weird? i thought it was one of their most conventional, but i liked it.

love tracy's timing when kenneth is confronting about high school, basically stepping on k's lines ("you had to dissect a f-" "what frog?")

In the last episode of MASH (most-watched TV episode ever!) Alda's
character is sent to a psychiatrist after a breakdown. He tells the
doctor that he had been on a bus with other people from the army, and
they had stopped to pick up some Koreans. They found out there were
enemies in the area, so the bus pulled off the road and Alda told
everyone to be quiet so the enemy wouldn't hear them. One of the
Korean women had a chicken that wouldn't stop making noise, so Alda
yelled at her, "Shut up that damn chicken!" So the woman killed the
chicken. The doctor can't understand why this was so traumatic to
Alda, but then finally Alda admits it wasn't really a chicken -- it
was a baby. The baby wouldn't stop crying and Alda told the mother to
keep it quiet. Rather than risk having the enemy hear them and kill
them all, the mother smothered her own baby.

Hence, "What's with all the crying about babies and chickens?"!!

Beardy was Steve Earle. Who was the other guy in that group? And who were the people next to Moby? And the girl next to Norah Jones? And the black guy next to Cyndi? So many not-famous-enough musicians.

I think Michael McDonald was next to Beardy. The dude in back by Moby was the singer from the Old 97's.

I think there are two active Wire threads today, which is funny given a total of three Wire actors guest-starring between this and The Office (Ryan, Elba, Earle)

Terrible episode harking back to the terrible guest star episodes that kicked off this season. Seems like they just couldn't be arsed to come up with a decent finale.

Really? I thought it was done pretty well. Very much in the vein of the Arrested Development episode where they have a fundraiser to try and save the 'company' (show) and acknowledge the ridiculous amount of celeb cameos.

That and the idea of MJB starting a charity to find the loch ness monster makes me lol more than it should.

that mash scene totally disturbed me as a kid and is stuck in my mind to this day - pretty disappointed in myself for not getting the reference

i thought this was pretty sucky until the last 10 mins - Tracy stuff was pretty poor but that MASH reference is dope (not that i got it without above explanation)...even Spaceman seemed off the boil. the celebs saved it.

weird absence of Frank, Lutz and co. the talk of "you've got 2 more years tops" was re-assuring.

This is very late, and may have been mentioned before but that montage of Tracy Jordan pulling up his shirt and freaking out on various talk shows is culled from actual footage of Tracy Morgan pulling up his shirt and freaking out on various talk shows.

The Reunion episode was on re-run tonight. If there's anything that needs to go in the Smithsonian, preserved on an ark,sent into space it's this episode.

‘30 Rock’ to Live On in Syndication

“30 Rock“looks to have a longer shelf life than some of its fans had imagined. The NBC sitcom, set backstage at the fictitious “TGS with Tracy Jordan” and starring Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin, will be repeated in syndication on Comedy Central beginning in 2011, the companies announced Tuesday.

The WGN America cable channel will also show the reruns. The syndication deals indicate that NBC is committed to at least five seasons of “30 Rock” — a relief for fans who had worried that the show would be canceled because of its relatively low ratings. The fourth season of the show will start in October on NBC. An NBC executive said in a statement that “30 Rock” is “a comedy still on the rise.”

I just found out my #1 favorite 30 Rock moment was a complete mis-hearing/mis-remembering of it:

Liz: [after seeing "Tracy" sitting in the middle of the hallway] Tracy, get out of the hallway.
Tracy: [jumps out from around the corner] OR AM I?

In my head it was always Liz saying, "Tracy, what are you doing?", which changes the whole joke. :-(
