what is it about the internet that makes people do that disingenuous trolling thing all the time? and why do i hate it so much? and why i am i such a jerk?
i guess its just a variation on the old *conspiratorial whisper* "i can't believe i'm saying this, but i actually LOVE that show..."
and then hopefully you get the validation you wanted for liking that dumb thing.

the music group i am a mod on on facebook has every single sad dude variation of this every day and i am always tempted to delete every post like that. there is the sad troll that goes like this:
"It might be boring, but sometimes you just gotta kick back with the four lads from Liverpool..." *picture of sad beatles album*
NO WAY NOT BORING AT ALL BLAH BLAH 400 BEATLES POSTS LOVE THEM NEVER BORING....

I like every damn thing that's come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well, except the last two Netflix series were kinda bad, and I hear Inhumans is also bad. Maybe they should just stick to the movies for a while, because those are all great.

the faux-incredulous troll can be the worst too...
"I can't believe more people don't talk about how good this is/this album is so underrated"
*picture of some stupid record that probably sold like 50 zillion copies*

Also, I don't care if it's music that only your great aunt listens to otherwise, I still love Basia. Hate all you want, social media!

I guess I'm in the minority, but I like this kind of trolling.

these people seem clueless but i don't get how they're being disingenous or faux-incredulous. FOS guy seems genuine. 50 zillion guy is legit incredulous, if a little lacking in awareness, right?

i feel like a lot of the time people know that other people are going to agree with them and chime in about how much they love that thing. and they phrase it that way because...i don't know.
but, yes, there are obviously times when someone genuinely believes that they are the only person on earth still listening to Tusk.

maybe its just the socially acceptable way to express your love for something online now. if you just write: "I LOVE KALE!" people might not respond. and think you were really high. but if you say: "I know its kind of a joke now and it's cool to hate it, but i really do LOVE kale!" and then people can post: OMG SO DO I I DON'T CARE IF PEOPLE HATE IT HERE IS A GOOD RECIPE...

Maybe it's just me, but for me, when your talking about great rock bands of the 20th century you just have to include The Beatles. #CBBTV— Rudy Kuske (@rudykuske) February 20, 2017

people's concerted attempts to get other people to pay attention to them are getting increasingly obviousthat much i know
the way they do it changes but the urge remains the samepay attention to me!
it's the golden age of the disclaimer

The opposite, of course, is the desperate Beatles (or whatever) hater: 'Everybody in the world loves the Beatles except me. All I hear all day is Beatles Beatles Beatles, and I'm like, pah, no way Jose, they never meant shit to me...', when, y'know these days there are probably more people who are indifferent or actively dislike the Beatles and you don't even hear that much about them any more.

Look, you might want to stop reading this right now if you are the kind of person who is easily offended, and I don't care if I am beaten with sticks by everyone I see on the street for saying this, but, I LIKE Whiney!

Ha, well, tbf, the CBB joke is only funny if you can assume that there is widespread and largely undisputed recognition of the Beatles as one of the greatest rock bands.
