I've been wondering about that -- I'm not sure if it's done to defy expectations or if LD can't get the writing to work out any more.

current season has a more laid back, chatty vibe overall, i think the less dense plotting suits it
― flopson, Thursday, 16 November 2017 07:56 (eight years ago)
The Romanian Uber driver was an amazing minor character though.
― Matt DC
Was gonna say the same thing.
― chap, Thursday, 16 November 2017 12:43 (eight years ago)
to those that bemoan the lack of plotting, this episode showed it's still connected to the fatwa theme of the earlier eps
― Week of Wonders (Ross), Monday, 20 November 2017 04:25 (eight years ago)
this felt like a very deliberate callback/inversion of the Seinfeld finale
― Οὖτις, Monday, 20 November 2017 16:46 (eight years ago)
the last few episodes have been pretty funny i think. some of the scenes earlier in the season felt particularly contrived -- i.e. larry having an extended argument w/ a stranger about door holding etiquette or whatever -- but these new ones have felt pretty seamless. the yoga episode was really good.
― J0rdan S., Monday, 20 November 2017 17:00 (eight years ago)
laughing all week about when Susie referred to Eddie Haskell as “an obsequious little shit” and Larry arguing that he had “access to the house”
― Nerdstrom Poindexter, Monday, 20 November 2017 18:21 (eight years ago)
I didn't understand that joke at all (Britisher).
The sequence with the Muslim guy rounding up Larry's greatest hits was delightful.
― chap, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:58 (eight years ago)
starting with ep 4 this season seemed to get a lot better, not sure why the first 3 episodes were so unmemorable but it felt pretty off
― In a slipshod style (Ross), Tuesday, 21 November 2017 19:49 (eight years ago)
kept searching for more links to latest ep cuz i thought they were mislabeled streams of s9e1 starting out with larry expelling the kissing couple from outside his office window
― flopson, Wednesday, 22 November 2017 00:41 (eight years ago)
classic episode. Larry's previous house owner coming to inspect his house and see how it's changed is an all-time nightmare scenario
― In a slipshod style (Ross), Monday, 27 November 2017 07:18 (eight years ago)
pretty funny ep, laughed out loud at Susie gettin some cowboy shucker action on the DL
Lin Manuel Miranda/Hamilton appearance was funny but also confirmed my "this is the worst fucking garbage ever" allergic reaction to that kind RAP: THE MUSICAL crap.
― Οὖτις, Monday, 27 November 2017 21:50 (eight years ago)
"It's the shucker's way..."
― chap, Tuesday, 28 November 2017 13:52 (eight years ago)
xpost OTM. I live in such a vacuum that I never knew Hamilton was a ... a... "rap musical"!?! Jeez I thought that shit died out with poetry slams.
― Acid Hose (Capitaine Jay Vee), Tuesday, 28 November 2017 15:20 (eight years ago)
turns out a huge swathe of the country actually think it's the greatest thing ever
― Οὖτις, Tuesday, 28 November 2017 18:11 (eight years ago)
well maybe not that huge idk how big theater audiences actually are tbh
the only RAP: THE MUSICAL production I would get behind is a stage version of Prince Paul's "Prince Among Thieves"
― Οὖτις, Tuesday, 28 November 2017 18:12 (eight years ago)
(which would also have to include all the performers from the record)
It's the best-selling cast album in 54 years and the tenth-best-selling US album of last year, it's not just "theatre audiences" that like itAlso it's great
― shackling the masses with plastic-wrapped snack picks (sic), Tuesday, 28 November 2017 18:29 (eight years ago)
please don't sully this thread with talk of rap musicals
― A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Tuesday, 28 November 2017 22:31 (eight years ago)
all talk of rap musicals must be rapped
― Οὖτις, Tuesday, 28 November 2017 22:35 (eight years ago)
into a pillow

lmao
― competitive shooter - - - - (Spottie), Tuesday, 28 November 2017 22:44 (eight years ago)
Larry was OTM about apologies/gratitude in this episode, but his treatment of the girl who was a "stand-in" was pretty terrible. Good finale overall
― In a slipshod style (Ross), Monday, 4 December 2017 05:51 (eight years ago)
was disappointed that it didn't end with him being murdered tbh
― Οὖτις, Monday, 4 December 2017 16:31 (eight years ago)
Kind of like the Sopranos ending, if not now, at some future time.
― nickn, Wednesday, 6 December 2017 07:49 (eight years ago)
Suzie's wedding outfit was hilarious.
― chap, Wednesday, 6 December 2017 10:30 (eight years ago)
Most of the time I carry myself in a mocha toneBut in certain parts of the year I’m more mahogany
― calstars, Thursday, 18 January 2018 03:24 (eight years ago)
renewed
based on larry's comments in interviews, this is where he feels most at home, so perhaps this will just keep going...
― kolakube (Ross), Thursday, 18 January 2018 03:55 (eight years ago)
season was a masterpiece
― flopson, Thursday, 18 January 2018 08:52 (eight years ago)
I enjoyed last night's CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, and happy to see that MR. MIKE is still on Larry David's bookshelf. But it was upside down. Inadvertent, or is there a message here? pic.twitter.com/9oJQsaGHeJ— Dennis Perrin (@DennisThePerrin) January 20, 2020
― a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Monday, 20 January 2020 14:58 (six years ago)
Fun episode all in all, but felt kind of forced it bringing it up to date. Kind of familiar standup gripes, expecting the next episode to have Larry get fed up with they/them pronouns.
― ... (Eazy), Monday, 20 January 2020 15:21 (six years ago)
The “mocha joe” conceit is an old standby routine of Larry vs restaurants and felt kind of thin. But I liked the wobbly table. I didn’t think the harassment stuff was funny
― calstars, Monday, 20 January 2020 15:35 (six years ago)
Larry in the MAGA cap was funny, most of the rest of it hasn't been. The MeToo stuff feels lazy and tired at the very least.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 22:14 (six years ago)
yeah it's not good. I don't if I'm bad now but I almost died at the fetus punchline at the end of ep1, but it has been downhill since then and into garbage Ricky Gervais type territory.
― calzino, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 22:19 (six years ago)
this season's fine, Susie and Leon are my favorites, Garlin looking like Weinstein is probably my favorite recurring bit
― Οὖτις, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 22:52 (six years ago)
I like that bit too, but Larry's understanding of MeToo is nowhere deep enough for most of the jokes to land, or often to even make sense
― MOAR PETE (sic), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 23:04 (six years ago)
idk if anything more complex than "Larry sees a boundary and crosses it, sometimes inadvertently but usually because of a mixture of hubris and assholism" is required re: the #MeToo plot points
― Οὖτις, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 23:08 (six years ago)
Liked the first ep a lot. Larry using a MAGA hat to avoid dealing with people is prime Curb. The Jeff/Weinstein mix up also pretty good and seems like it could lead somewhere pretty funny. Leon’s great as always:“You know what I noticed? Nobody where’s those hats on backwards. If you’re gonna get your ass kicked, you wanna see it coming.”
― circa1916, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 23:11 (six years ago)
OK lol
― A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 23:22 (six years ago)
idk about this season lol
― treeship., Saturday, 29 February 2020 03:01 (six years ago)
brave. will give him that.
or maybe rash, idk
He should have done more classic style schtick
― calstars, Saturday, 29 February 2020 03:06 (six years ago)
He seems like a worse guy than in the early seasons.
― treeship., Saturday, 29 February 2020 03:06 (six years ago)
I thought this last season too.
― treeship., Saturday, 29 February 2020 03:07 (six years ago)
I can’t do it anymore. He was having a good first date and then ruined it by acting weird about her recent weight loss.
― treeship., Saturday, 29 February 2020 03:21 (six years ago)
new seasons great imo
