Curb Your Enthusiasm - C or D?

I've been wondering about that -- I'm not sure if it's done to defy expectations or if LD can't get the writing to work out any more.

current season has a more laid back, chatty vibe overall, i think the less dense plotting suits it

to those that bemoan the lack of plotting, this episode showed it's still connected to the fatwa theme of the earlier eps

this felt like a very deliberate callback/inversion of the Seinfeld finale

the last few episodes have been pretty funny i think. some of the scenes earlier in the season felt particularly contrived -- i.e. larry having an extended argument w/ a stranger about door holding etiquette or whatever -- but these new ones have felt pretty seamless. the yoga episode was really good.

laughing all week about when Susie referred to Eddie Haskell as “an obsequious little shit” and Larry arguing that he had “access to the house”

I didn't understand that joke at all (Britisher).

The sequence with the Muslim guy rounding up Larry's greatest hits was delightful.

starting with ep 4 this season seemed to get a lot better, not sure why the first 3 episodes were so unmemorable but it felt pretty off

kept searching for more links to latest ep cuz i thought they were mislabeled streams of s9e1 starting out with larry expelling the kissing couple from outside his office window

classic episode. Larry's previous house owner coming to inspect his house and see how it's changed is an all-time nightmare scenario

pretty funny ep, laughed out loud at Susie gettin some cowboy shucker action on the DL

Lin Manuel Miranda/Hamilton appearance was funny but also confirmed my "this is the worst fucking garbage ever" allergic reaction to that kind RAP: THE MUSICAL crap.

the only RAP: THE MUSICAL production I would get behind is a stage version of Prince Paul's "Prince Among Thieves"

(which would also have to include all the performers from the record)

It's the best-selling cast album in 54 years and the tenth-best-selling US album of last year, it's not just "theatre audiences" that like it

Larry was OTM about apologies/gratitude in this episode, but his treatment of the girl who was a "stand-in" was pretty terrible. Good finale overall

was disappointed that it didn't end with him being murdered tbh

Kind of like the Sopranos ending, if not now, at some future time.

Suzie's wedding outfit was hilarious.

Fun episode all in all, but felt kind of forced it bringing it up to date. Kind of familiar standup gripes, expecting the next episode to have Larry get fed up with they/them pronouns.

The “mocha joe” conceit is an old standby routine of Larry vs restaurants and felt kind of thin. But I liked the wobbly table. I didn’t think the harassment stuff was funny

Larry in the MAGA cap was funny, most of the rest of it hasn't been. The MeToo stuff feels lazy and tired at the very least.

yeah it's not good. I don't if I'm bad now but I almost died at the fetus punchline at the end of ep1, but it has been downhill since then and into garbage Ricky Gervais type territory.

this season's fine, Susie and Leon are my favorites, Garlin looking like Weinstein is probably my favorite recurring bit

I like that bit too, but Larry's understanding of MeToo is nowhere deep enough for most of the jokes to land, or often to even make sense

idk if anything more complex than "Larry sees a boundary and crosses it, sometimes inadvertently but usually because of a mixture of hubris and assholism" is required re: the #MeToo plot points

Liked the first ep a lot. Larry using a MAGA hat to avoid dealing with people is prime Curb. The Jeff/Weinstein mix up also pretty good and seems like it could lead somewhere pretty funny. Leon’s great as always:

“You know what I noticed? Nobody where’s those hats on backwards. If you’re gonna get your ass kicked, you wanna see it coming.”
