Am I the only one for whom zing crashes after viewing a post?

And thanks stet!

brimstead, Thursday, 5 October 2017 18:25 (eight years ago)

I get that crash too ... I can read threads, but if I click on an individual post, then try to go back to the thread, the app quits. This has been going on for a while and still occurs with the latest version of zing. I attributed the problem to the antiquity of my 4s, which can't run any iOS later than 9.3.5, but maybe it's more general?

Also: thanks, stet!

Brad C., Thursday, 5 October 2017 18:37 (eight years ago)

does not happen to me on SE

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 5 October 2017 19:06 (eight years ago)

Hmm, that’s weird. What phone do you have, brimstead? And what OS?

stet, Thursday, 5 October 2017 19:07 (eight years ago)

(Thanks everybody!)

stet, Thursday, 5 October 2017 19:07 (eight years ago)

That crash happens to me on my iPhone 5 but not on my later phone

harbinger of failure (Jon not Jon), Thursday, 5 October 2017 19:35 (eight years ago)

Is it on iOS 9 or 10?

stet, Thursday, 5 October 2017 19:38 (eight years ago)

My 5 is on the last one it was allowed (10.3.3 iirc)

harbinger of failure (Jon not Jon), Thursday, 5 October 2017 19:40 (eight years ago)

I had the same bug on my 5 but not on my new SE

droit au butt (Euler), Thursday, 5 October 2017 22:40 (eight years ago)

Yes I should add I am on an SE right now and no crashing.

harbinger of failure (Jon not Jon), Thursday, 5 October 2017 22:44 (eight years ago)

Now to try and rustle up a real 5 — you can’t even simulate one in the current Xcode

stet, Friday, 6 October 2017 00:06 (eight years ago)

I might be done with mine now that I have an SE
Unless I decide to turn it into a webcam for my bird or something

harbinger of failure (Jon not Jon), Friday, 6 October 2017 00:07 (eight years ago)

i'm on a 5c running OS 10

i should probably just get with the program and buy a fancy new phone. *ugh*

brimstead, Friday, 6 October 2017 00:11 (eight years ago)

I have no complaints, I've bought Zing twice now, would buy again

El Tomboto, Friday, 6 October 2017 00:59 (eight years ago)

the < button seems a little less sensitive in the new version but I blame Apple for that, stet remains supreme

El Tomboto, Friday, 6 October 2017 01:00 (eight years ago)

^^co-sign on both

I too have the crash-upon-going-back-after-viewing-post for a while. Reinstalled, did not work. 4th gen. iPad on 10.3.3.
I mostly use Zing on the iPhone (5S, no problems there) but would appreciate a fix if possible.

willem, Friday, 6 October 2017 07:16 (eight years ago)

The back button thing is driving me nuts. The problem, I think, is that I put the full thread title in the titlebar. In iOS 6, the back button kept the "Back" label, so it was plenty big. In iOS7 that changed so that if there wasn't room it would shrink right down to just the "<". I wonder if it's got even smaller in iOS 11. I'll try a version with no title and see if that helps.

stet, Friday, 6 October 2017 10:05 (eight years ago)

ILX masculine dude thread seems to be broken on Zing.

Jeff, Friday, 13 October 2017 13:33 (eight years ago)

So many woke dudes in one place has broken technology.

Always assumed it was a deliberate choice by stet to let I stand in for Q to keep the interface less crowded.

shackling the masses with plastic-wrapped snack picks (sic), Sunday, 15 October 2017 19:50 (eight years ago)

I’m biased, I use block quotes all the time and today I noticed there’s room for it

El Tomboto, Sunday, 15 October 2017 19:52 (eight years ago)

I would IAP this feature fwiw (for $2 even!! Cause I’m rich)

El Tomboto, Sunday, 15 October 2017 19:54 (eight years ago)

the q might not fit on an se

rove mcmanus island (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 October 2017 09:21 (eight years ago)

the U is indeed hard right on my SE

^ tell yr mom

shackling the masses with plastic-wrapped snack picks (sic), Monday, 16 October 2017 09:31 (eight years ago)

then the IAP approach works great; the rich people without headphone jacks can buy in, the rest can just use italics (signaling their desperate hardscrabble existence)

El Tomboto, Monday, 16 October 2017 15:16 (eight years ago)

The reply button automatically adds block quotes

"The" Blink-182 (wins), Monday, 16 October 2017 15:29 (eight years ago)

yes and I would much prefer that it do italics instead

El Tomboto, Monday, 16 October 2017 15:40 (eight years ago)

inability to back out of threads is saddest bug ever. donating monies.

Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Saturday, 21 October 2017 16:23 (eight years ago)

Yeah I've been wondering about that. Doesn't seem like a consistent bug.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 21 October 2017 16:32 (eight years ago)

The “back” button should totally be an IAP

Stet just missing out on opportunities all over the place

El Tomboto, Saturday, 21 October 2017 16:39 (eight years ago)

If you want quotes formatted in italics that’s a job for your style sheet. Quotes are quotes.

You have misconstrued my User Story. Back to the Scrumgeons with you

El Tomboto, Saturday, 21 October 2017 17:40 (eight years ago)

I can’t reproduce the back bug, argh

stet, Saturday, 21 October 2017 20:48 (eight years ago)

neither can i fwiw (iphone 8+, ios 11.0.3)

rove mcmanus island (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 21 October 2017 21:39 (eight years ago)

Is it the one where you have to click the little arrow on the left? Seems like the target area got smaller in the latest update...

DJI, Saturday, 21 October 2017 22:52 (eight years ago)

Yeah I assume folks are just talking about the left caret being harder to hit

El Tomboto, Saturday, 21 October 2017 23:07 (eight years ago)

it's worse than that. like Ned said, sometimes it works as expected and sometimes there's no choice but to close the app.

Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Sunday, 22 October 2017 02:07 (eight years ago)

I’ll show you it on my phone, Stet.

Madchen, Monday, 23 October 2017 05:03 (eight years ago)

tbh a lot of my apps have been acting up since OS11 in similar ways - Kindle will freeze up and stop responding to swipes. Chrome, especially when FB is loaded on it, just randomly ignores taps on various buttons.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Monday, 23 October 2017 08:10 (eight years ago)

three weeks pass...

A way to unsubscribe from threads would be great!

calstars, Friday, 17 November 2017 22:32 (eight years ago)

swipe left

rove mcmanus island (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 17 November 2017 22:36 (eight years ago)

Thanks AA

I would like to request that the "reply" button append the signature line from the poster being quoted to the quote

Would contribute to a crowdfunding bounty to get stet to spend time on this particular feature, even

direct to consumer online mattress brand (silby), Saturday, 24 February 2018 01:16 (eight years ago)

It used to do that! But somebody moaned and I took it out
