(it's been mentioned 4 times before. glad I'm not alone!)

I feel bad for saying I don't care about Kaepernick, I'm 100% in his corner in terms of right to protest, subject of his protest, and the people criticizing him are idiots and fascists. I just also hate the whole spectacle of NFL to begin with, and it feels like this weird proxy culture war thing that has overshadowed the original issue.

Like the recent protests in St Louis seem 10x more important and direct and real and get about 1/10 the attention.

Isn't it a good thing that something exists that will get that attention then

Ha!

New entry:

prog

whether it is actually good

or bad

or whatever

or whether you like some of it (which I do)

or whether you think most of it is wankery (which I usually do)

or even what I think about prog (for which, see above, but I really just don't care enough to talk about it anymore)

last night there was a show where in the usual clipped NPR diction someone was explaining the tax plan and after one not-that-long sentence, the guy adds, "Got all that? Okay." followed by the usual NPR thing of inserting a quote from someone else where they say just two words, then it's back to the reporter clip-dicting away.

To me this seems like more of a waste of time than just about anything on Earth. Guys talk about it like they're real GMs. Constantly on their phones while games are going on to check out "their guys" are doing. To what end? I mean I get that everyone has their own interests and these can seem pointless and boring to others but good god man.

new york losing something that made it so captivating. this week it is moe's meat market. shed a tear for moe's. which isn't even a meat market! i miss the meat market!

things change. cities change. it's not 1922. rich people really want to live there. maybe it's time to start scaring rich people again, new york, ever think of that?

we're just waiting for another really good superstorm

Star Wars. I was drowsing on the couch half-watching the Vikings-Bears game last night, saw the first seconds of new trailer, and went back to sleep before it even registered.

"Celebration" encourages the listener to celebrate good times. (Dan Peterson), Tuesday, 10 October 2017 20:14 (eight years ago)

there's a great new york tradition of reading that a classic establishment, one that you've never visited and maybe weren't even aware of, is going to be closing, and subsequently rushing to patronize it and mourn the loss.

In that vein, something I don't care about is Katz's Deli--from what I hear they yell at you, and you can't even put cheese on your sandwich? Nah I'm good.

Conic section rebellion 44 (in orbit), Tuesday, 10 October 2017 20:37 (eight years ago)

yelling + no cheese = good

ice cream social justice (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 10 October 2017 20:39 (eight years ago)

There's an also-ran semi-famous Jewish deli in my neighborhood called Ben's Best, and I'm perfectly happy to just go there for my occasional pastrami, even if I'll never know that Katz's is like 20% better.

IF (Terrorist) Yes, Explain (man alive), Tuesday, 10 October 2017 20:40 (eight years ago)

however wanting to put cheese on a katz's sandwich = goyish as fuck, sry

star wars. haven't seen rogue one, haven't seen whatever A New Hope II was called. I loved the original trilogy as a child, was extremely disappointed by prequels as a teen, CGAF about new Star Wars films in 2017

When I was kid a bloke who was dating my half-sister and would later become a violent domestic abuser, "treated" us to a cinema showing in Bradford that played all three of the first trilogy in one bastard sitting. I wish I could say I don't care, but I actively hate that fucking shite.

Yes, Spain could be on the verge of breaking up and/or civil war and this shit about some ugly fat movie producer/rapist is the leading story.

Not that I don't care about, I just don't think it should be the leading news story in the UK.
