for janet alone, yes

I spoiled myself by peeking at this thread. The impact was lessened slightly but the twist almost seems to be the jumping-off point of the series rather than a Shyamalan-esque 'DID I BLOW YOUR MIND?!?' moment. So, yeah, definitely worth watching.
― Gewgaws for Meemaw (Old Lunch), Monday, 25 September 2017 12:46 (eight years ago)
yeah, and upon rewatching the whole first series takes on a whole new tone
― rove mcmanus island (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 25 September 2017 13:01 (eight years ago)
Main cast aside (all excellent), it's lovely to be reminded how amazing Adam Scott is at playing a total douche. He has such a range, that one.

That's really his best mode

It took me way too many hours to realize that this is No Exit: The Sitcom.

This is the only show for which I will wade through ads on nbc.com (which continually crash the stream)

I am hopeful for more amazing Jianyu/Jason content
― mh, Monday, 25 September 2017 15:01 (eight years ago)
This show cements for me the opinion that I should always make an effort to check out Michael Schur-driven shows.
― Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Monday, 25 September 2017 15:05 (eight years ago)
DJP spoiled this for me on Twitter is it still worth watching?
1. Sorry! 2. Absolutely. Knowing the "twist" is what made me start watching the show and it is super, super hilarious regardless.
― Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Monday, 25 September 2017 15:06 (eight years ago)
It's beside the point but now I find myself wondering what all the other 'extras' are doing with their time when not interacting with the humans. Just eating Hawaiian pizza I guess?
― change display name (Jordan), Monday, 25 September 2017 15:28 (eight years ago)
I am interested to see how they flesh out the cosmology. Like, assuming those people are actually demons or something like it, how much of a drag must it be to behave like such paragons of humanity all the time and not bite people or flatten their penises? I expect we'll be seeing more Denise-ing as the experiment continues.
― Gewgaws for Meemaw (Old Lunch), Monday, 25 September 2017 15:37 (eight years ago)
my ongoing reaction was "these people can't even be real" so I'm sticking with that impression
― mh, Monday, 25 September 2017 15:45 (eight years ago)
One of the things that Team Fremulon have perfected is making compliments as funny as insults, especially between women. I love that.

Now I really want to see a Bob's Burgers/The Good Place crossover.

Just finished Chapter 16. This show keeps reinventing itself and its character relationships so quickly I wonder how long it will take for the story to burn itself out. That said, I love it so much.

Mindy is such a great tertiary character, btw.

i was reluctant to check this out because i thought it was by some pushing daisies people, and then it seemed super like it was even though it turns out i was wrong about that, but i guess it has turned out ok anyway, except that i am kind of expecting it to become a little insufferable or nauseating like pushing daisies. maybe the lack of a tru luv theme will ensure that it can't.
― j., Saturday, 30 September 2017 05:36 (eight years ago)
My mom liked Pushing Daisies, but I never watched it. I can guarantee you my mom would hate this show.

watched S2E2 last night and i really do kinda like the wobbly nature of things. i don't know what is gonna happen. and i dig that. i also kinda like the idea of them pretending to be miserable for a whole season just to help michael which makes no sense! but what else are they gonna do?
and i loved michael confiding in jason and jason having no idea what he was talking about. "i understand the word rat...and the word jason..."
― scott seward, Saturday, 30 September 2017 17:17 (eight years ago)
Xp Tru luv theme is very much on the way, don't doubt

it has problems. jianyu is/was a terrible actor for instance.

Pushing Daisies was beloved by romantics who find sex repulsive. There's nothing romantic about The Good Place.

Star crossed lovers meet in hell, find each other through hundreds of incarnations isn't romantic?

They share a predicament, not a soul bond. The show explicitly mocks the idea.

i understand this. i should have said "the actor playing jianyu".
i can also totally understand ppl finding the cutesy tone offputting. for me it was definitely an acquired taste.
