you're very easily shocked. i thought it was widely known that people dressed well in glasgow in the 50s onward. my uncles were all like that - suoer neat brilliantined hair and handmade suits and overcoats that iirc were all made by one tailor next to the barras.

aye my granda and his brothers were brought up 11 folk in a parkhead room and kitchen with a usually unemployed alchy da but they all looked natty as anything in any pictures from the 40s and 50s.

I just assumed everyone looked like Steptoe and Son.

Another thing: it's been a while since I heard any real hatred towards English people. I'm surprised that wasn't more visible during the referendum. In primary school I remember kids saying they really hated the English.

Is it just me or is Fruit Shoot sold in more shops than Ribena or any other blackcurrent drink? I tried Fruit Shoot again and its just as ghastly as I remembered.

I tend to find Ribena widely available in Scotland's many fine stockists of juice.

there was a lot of controversy when it came out, ten year ago or so, that ribena has not very much vitamin c, barely any fruit, and is basically not really any more nutritious than any type of ginger

Concentrate Ribena is rank. Pre-mixed Ribena is a nice drink.

Fruit Shoots are awful. Every time I'm in McDonalds and I hear a parent get one for their child as part of a Happy Meal I always assume the parent just doesn't love their child.

Glasgow is still endearingly rubbish at fapping, but Gerty/Herpes (the king of autocorrect names) and Jed are still excellent company in a bar where I feel like people think I'm someone's mum coming to check out on them (seriously, ffs, they apparently let weans into the art school now, let's pretend I'm not old enough to actual have given birth to people who can commence further education).
