frogbs, Wednesday, 20 September 2017 03:09 (eight years ago)

Andrew Farrell, Wednesday, 20 September 2017 09:33 (eight years ago)

Is this one like the max # of antisemitc conspiracy refs Garrison has made yet?

Hit to Death in the "Galactic Head" (kingfish), Wednesday, 20 September 2017 18:52 (eight years ago)

Chip Bok and Chuck Asay are no longer active, are they?

Whereas the DayByDay asshole has devolved into drawing just straight porn.

Which seems more honest, somehow.

Hit to Death in the "Galactic Head" (kingfish), Wednesday, 20 September 2017 18:54 (eight years ago)

In Emile Zola's "L'oeuvre" the central character, an artist, has a vision of a grand painting which shows all of Paris, then slowly falls into poverty, illness and death as he obsessively tries and fails to make his vision real.

I'm hoping the same happens re: Ben Garrison and the forces opposing Trump.

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Wednesday, 20 September 2017 19:05 (eight years ago)

Ben Garrison begins his project of making the territory the map and starts by painting all of D.C. with swamp gargoyles

Wichita prepares for totality (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Thursday, 21 September 2017 06:33 (eight years ago)

There's something eerie and evocative that I love about that image. Whoever made that has an artistic touch! And a bad command of the English language.

carpet_kaiser, Friday, 20 October 2017 14:25 (eight years ago)

The loony right wing has been unsuccessfully trying to foment a civil war for decades now, but obviously they forgot to set a date.

A is for (Aimless), Friday, 20 October 2017 20:40 (eight years ago)

It’s a sorry state of affairs when your fascists are less organised than your anarchists.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Friday, 20 October 2017 23:57 (eight years ago)

Ben Garrison has apparently branched out into gifs now. Not sure what satiric point he's even trying to make here, it's just a weird thing, what is driving this man?

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Sunday, 22 October 2017 13:56 (eight years ago)

what is driving this man?

trying to monetize his personal obsessions and delusions

is HERE LIES FAIR PLAY a reference to anything specific, or just a general lament?

I'd completely forgotten that the Clintons supposedly killed JFK jr along with all those other people

why does it say "spirit of communism" and not "spectre" ffs

soref, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 13:50 (eight years ago)

As a counterbalance, Franken/Stein is a solid joke (though probably not his)

Andrew Farrell, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 14:12 (eight years ago)

^^^ yeah, I was just gonna note, I actually chuckled at that one.

the young, low level volunteer named (Dan Peterson), Tuesday, 31 October 2017 14:24 (eight years ago)

I thought Fair Play was commenting on the idea that the media are now completely in the pocket of the left, but I was thinking of the Fairness Doctrine

FIrst time I heard it was about 15 years ago when he and Ben Stein were touring college campuses, debating the war.

pplains, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 15:50 (eight years ago)

Irony alert! It was Saint Ronald Reagan who killed the Fairness Doctrine.

A good Medium piece on Garrison. (You'll have to log in to read it.)

...Garrison is a prolific and highly partisan political cartoonist whose work appears online, which means he is an artist in the same way that people who author long, high-pitched farts on mass transit are musicians. As a political cartoonist, Garrison is both passably skillful in his craft and so flubby and overdetermined in his politics and aesthetic that you can basically smell his upsetting breath in your face every time you look at something he’s drawn...Garrison’s overstuffed cartoons are all little thudding epics, reliably bursting with every meme currently roiling the Extremely Online right. Imagine a version of Hieronymus Bosch who sincerely believes in Pizzagate, never goes outside, and clearly labels everything, and you have Ben Garrison.

I liked drfarls’ pull quote a lot too

and the first comment: Vivian Kubrick is a Garrison fan.

Nothing is concealed or even really coded, but that doesn’t make it any easier to comprehend. Everything is labeled, but that doesn’t mean it makes sense.

The Fortnightly Intruder (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Saturday, 4 November 2017 20:50 (eight years ago)

Don't want to post every fucking BG cartoon here (they seem to be released daily now) but what is the deal with this? Is there some kind of pun with 'ship' that I'm missing, or does he just want to make Hillary into a rat?

pplains, Monday, 6 November 2017 22:49 (eight years ago)

Sure, I get that. But half a pun is not a pun.

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Monday, 6 November 2017 22:50 (eight years ago)

Garrison has kind of crossed over into Jack Chick territory w/ me in that I marvel at the insanity more than I get angry or offended, but boy do these shmucks only have one deeply racist joke for Warren.

Daniel_Rf, Monday, 6 November 2017 23:29 (eight years ago)

He just wants to make HRC the rat rather than a ship, which is not a negative thing.

nickn, Monday, 6 November 2017 23:32 (eight years ago)

But why were the ships on a rat in the first place?

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Monday, 6 November 2017 23:35 (eight years ago)

As stated above, just flipping the trope.

nickn, Monday, 6 November 2017 23:37 (eight years ago)

Along these lines, I thought that the Dems as witches going a'hunting could've been pretty funny had it been set up better.

Have we mentioned yet that you could get an entire semiotics or abpsychology cirriculum out of this guy’s work alone?

Google Murray Blockchain (kingfish), Friday, 10 November 2017 18:45 (eight years ago)

He missed out the part where Trump will increase my sex appeal. But everything else is there.

A is for (Aimless), Friday, 10 November 2017 18:48 (eight years ago)
