I had a dream jon williams scribbled all over my ibook and I got mad and said you don't just do that to an ibook and he said he cd understand bt couldn't agree citing something abt how ppl have a responsibility to use imdb safely but go ahead and search rashly anyway. wtf?

I had a dream Colette was going out with my friend Eoin. I thought they made a very bizarre couple in my dream and I still do now I'm awake. (Both lovely people, but I don't think they'd fancy each other. Maybe it was a portent and I will be surprised?)

I wrote the final 40% of Toby's PhD, according to my dream last night. He was having trouble with the more wordy, less math-y bits.

(I also crawled through Luton in torrential rain after going to a party with 7 loos and having to flee from an irate AFC Wimbledon fan who I caught going through everyone's stuff)

yeh you gotta watch those AFC fans...but are you having some sort of 'competetive crisis' re the Toby thing do you think? i don't seem to get that in dreams much, which is odd cos i am the type of person who can get a bit envious of other people's achievements, or like 'oh i could do that'

Hmm, I wonder. I do admire (more than envy) people with academic drive and ability, and sometimes I feel a bit dumb in comparison (Sarah, who's also doing a PhD, gets to see this quite a lot). Historically I've always consoled myself with the fact that I am fundamentally clever, but as has been discussed before, ILX is a difficult place when it comes to asserting your intellectual strengths as there are so many geniuses about.

I actually think it's envy of Toby's hairline.

I dreamed I was buying some pistachios and tiny rainbow coloured ice cream cones in a corner shop, and I put the pistachios in the scale at the till and went to fetch the ice creams, then, despite having been the only person in the shop seconds ago when i got back there was a huge queue, so I joined the back, thinking I'd catch up with the pistachios when I got to the front and no harm done, but everyone in the queue started having a go that I'd jumped the queue by putting the pistachios in the scale when I was still at the back of the queue, even though when I'd put them there there had been no queue. I tried to explain, but it all went nasty and I got upset and shouted 'you people' and ran off. I woke up and thought it was all real. I am blaming the crap day I'm now having on this dream.

I had a dream about the bands without internet presence thread on ILM. Everyone was posting names of bands and that so obviously have an internet site, I was getting quite pedantic about it, but everyone was really grateful when I showed them where to find their favourite websites.

I had a dream that mark s told me I should write a book examining math textbooks from something like a ten year period, critically examining their approach. (I think it started at some point in the 80's.) I said something like, "I know you're going to say it's not really a weakness [when it comes to doing a project like this] that I'm very bad at math, but I don't believe you." And then mark s did indeed say something along those lines, and make some sort of case as to why it wouldn't matter, but I can't quite remember what it was.

my dream last night, i must've been channeling alex in nyc or something.
a good chunk of it was spent trying to drive up to guelph (a town north of toronto) to see killing joke play.
having gotten totally side-tracked on the way a friend of mine called from the show taunting me with a rather crisp transmission of "pandemonium" over his cell. never made it to the show & wound up at some weird convention or somethingerother.

A couple of weeks ago I dreamt that I was amateur!st, and that I'd been captured by Texans who were angry about me being some kinda foreign no-good non-Redneck type. I was sorta sad and slow and kinda Zoidberg-esque about it all, like this sort of thing happened all the time. Then I found out that their leader was Blount, and I thought that was a good sign, only then he announced that one of his buddies had decided that I was going to be hung, and they're wasn't much he could do about, though obviously he'd like to, fellow ILXors and all. He wasn't very convincing.

She then sent me a text which read, and this is seriously weird, "step one, find cup, step two, add coffee, step three, take our relationship to the PURGERATOR".

I swear this is the most fucked up dream I've ever had, I guess the medicine I'm on at the moment is kind of crazy.

I woke up and was quite glad to find myself still on good terms with the girl in question.

This is unrelated to ilx, but last night I had a dream where (in one part - and surprisingly this was the most normal part) I was somehow involved in the production of a trading spaces/changing rooms type of tv show - except the house I was in was a big stone mansion, and the family was the pretty much the Addams family. Morticia was NOT into the fabric the desginer had chosen. I think I was just there to find something though.

I had a crazy dream yesterday, it was ridiculous. I dreamt I was in Trinity College in Dublin and I met Rob B and Colette, and Rob was telling me he was preparing for an exam where he had to talk about TAXATION (???) but he was ok because the lecturer was actually from the same town as Colette.

I had a dream that I was at Tom Waits' house.
We went out to his shop/garage whatever so I could help him paint something.
When we finished I had paint all over my hands.
He says in that trademark TW voice :"Here, put some pussy on em." while handing me a can of turpentine.

Funny how it totally made sense in the dream that Tom Waits calls turpentine "pussy".

Last night I dreamt that I went out to Karaoke and Ned Raggett was there singing an Olivia Newton-John song. I don't remember which song it was, but he said "This is an Olivia Newton-John song." in a voice exactly like Toby Radloff from American Splendor and then began singing in a high operatic tenor. His hair looked not unlike Peter Mayhew's in the new Star Wars: Empire of Dreams documentary.
