I've been a terrible employee this week. I'm spending the majority of my working day coordinating with friends and family, making sure they have a plan and supplies. Apparently I'm terrible at focusing at work at times of stress. I need to update my resume to reflect my newfound skill.

I know I said upthread that I'm leaving, but everyone I know here in Tampa are hunkering down. I would feel shitty hogging gas for those who need to get out so I'm staying put and hoping the fucker dies out in the ocean somewhere.

xxpost not normal no but it kinda happened last year w/ Matthew and the one after it. this is the first time three active hurricanes were out at the same time since 2010.

fortunately its projected path doesn't have it making landfall *yet*, but hard to get too excited given how flawed 4-5 day forecasts are.

plus the Carolinas could eventually be targeted.

Got in touch with my friends on St Martin today, albeit very, very briefly. The connection broke off a minute in the conversation, but I know now they themselves are ok. No idea about the state of things/house/belongings though.

It's so odd in this day and age an island can be completely cut off from the world. Under normal circumstances it feels like a breath of fresh air: there are still places on this planet unreachable! Now, though.. ugh.
