Being excited that summer's over is such an alien concept to me
― ultros ultros-ghali, Friday, 1 September 2017 20:07 (eight years ago)
september for me means it's going to start raining at some juncture and will likely do so fairly consistently until may or june
― -_- (jim in vancouver), Friday, 1 September 2017 20:08 (eight years ago)
i am three miles from the ocean and it is 101 degrees in my classroom :-/
― the late great, Friday, 1 September 2017 20:08 (eight years ago)
the heat index is actually only about 90 degrees outside but my AC is malfunctioning and my classroom has an uninsulated "tin roof"

Summer's back was broken early here by Hurricane Harvey, we had bizarrely autumnal weather in Austin the weekend after the hurricane looped near us. Now it's back to hot September doldrums though. Looking forward to the first real cold front so I can play my summer's end song:

WOW!
i know pumpkin things are passé and flavored coffee is disgusting but every sunday at the farmer's market i get a cup of coffee and the place has one flavored option every week and it's pumpkin time and i genuinely like pumpkin coffee. i'm not sorry either. i made it myself yesterday, too.

just when it finally got warm, Canada caught on fire and blocked out the sun

― princess of hell (BradNelson), Friday, 21 September 2018 22:25 (seven years ago)
true fact: earth wind and fire's "september" was written about the first appearance of the angel moroni to joseph smith on september 21, 1823.
― milkshake duck george bernard shaw (rushomancy), Friday, 21 September 2018 23:58 (seven years ago)
September is my fave month, not only because it boasts at least two of the greatest month-titled songs (EWF’s, and “September Gurls”), but also for the Lisa Simpson-esque reason that it is the longest possible time before more Summer.
― Engles in the Outfield (cryptosicko), Saturday, 22 September 2018 00:00 (seven years ago)
(Yes, yes, I know—much of September is still technically “Summer”)
― Engles in the Outfield (cryptosicko), Saturday, 22 September 2018 00:02 (seven years ago)
september also gave us "september song", "september in the rain", "september the ninth", and some songs not sung by robert wyatt like richard strauss's "september", sumire's "september love", and moonriders' "jellyfish sea in september".
― milkshake duck george bernard shaw (rushomancy), Saturday, 22 September 2018 00:05 (seven years ago)
it's a good month but it's getting a little warm for my tastes
― mookieproof, Saturday, 22 September 2018 00:15 (seven years ago)
Try to remember the kind of SeptemberWhen life was slow and oh so mellow.
― tokyo rosemary, Saturday, 22 September 2018 00:18 (seven years ago)
I hated school so so so much that 25+ years later, September is still ruined.
― tokyo rosemary, Saturday, 22 September 2018 00:20 (seven years ago)
when i was small i was excited to go back to school. later on, rather less so. i can totally see how school would ruin one for fall but at this point i'm just tired of air conditioning and my need for it
virgos rule tho
― mookieproof, Saturday, 22 September 2018 00:25 (seven years ago)
Virgos are not bad, that's true.

related: songs sung by robert wyatt about the month of september in the late 1990s
also: if this kind of 82°/88% humidity bullshit continues i'm gonna have to shift my allegiance to october. do better, september
― mookieproof, Thursday, 27 September 2018 02:52 (seven years ago)
just got the second cool front of september, pretty unusual for texas... usually gotta wait for october for a nice north wind. ready for a real cold front to roll across and drop temps down into the 50s at night though.
― com rad erry red flag (f. hazel), Thursday, 27 September 2018 03:00 (seven years ago)
Just having days that aren't stuck in the 90s/100s has been a big relief. I can actually go outside!
