I feel like everyone would have done a Mr Peanutbutter #HOPE parody poster, but wow at the execution of this one.

can i just start with 1.07 then?

also found the start of the first season kind of glib and unfunny

dug the underwater ep though

Chuck_Tatum, Wednesday, 30 August 2017 12:58 (eight years ago)

The trouble with skipping episodes is that you miss stuff that sets up later payoffs. Just drink it all down and trust me that it gets good

imago, Wednesday, 30 August 2017 13:18 (eight years ago)

I think you need to see 1.03. That sets up a lot of stuff. 5 and 6 are good as well. So, like, take it from 3?

Frederik B, Wednesday, 30 August 2017 13:28 (eight years ago)

You could jump to 1.08 (the Herb Kazazz episode) if you want to check how good it gets, and then double back, perhaps?

Frederik B, Wednesday, 30 August 2017 13:31 (eight years ago)

I reckon 7 is just as devastating as 8 in its own quieter way

imago, Wednesday, 30 August 2017 13:57 (eight years ago)

Imago's comparison is bad because rick n morty is much closer in quality to bojack (arguably better in some ways) than family guy or South Park for that matter are to the simpsons

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Wednesday, 30 August 2017 19:05 (eight years ago)

fine fine fine, i'll watch more of it. as we've learnt you should never judge a series by the first few episodes, kids

imago, Wednesday, 30 August 2017 19:46 (eight years ago)

They should just stop making the first few episodes, then. Problem solved.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 30 August 2017 19:51 (eight years ago)

Which modern multi-series shows were at top quality (by the show's standard) straight out of the gate I wonder

imago, Wednesday, 30 August 2017 19:56 (eight years ago)

maybe not modern but Ren and Stimpy was top quality pretty much out of the gate

Week of Wonders (Ross), Thursday, 31 August 2017 04:05 (eight years ago)

Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Battlestar Galactica - and those are just the Bs! - Fargo, Party Down, Justified, The Wire, The Americans ...

Comedies seem to have it tougher, since so much timing and whatnot stems from chemistry and being comfortable with one another, writers and actors alike.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 31 August 2017 05:26 (eight years ago)

most animated comedies i think of took a couple years to cohere. king of the hill, simpsons, etc

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Thursday, 31 August 2017 06:39 (eight years ago)

id argue so far s3 of rick & morty seems like inarguably the most consistent so far

yes my argument is that my argument cant be argued with

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Thursday, 31 August 2017 07:29 (eight years ago)

OK, I realized I had only seen the first episode, so gave it a fair shake. I made it to maybe halfway through episode 5 and ... nah, not going to happen. Either I am 25 years too old to find this funny, or maybe it's just not funny. Probably a combination.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 5 September 2017 16:51 (eight years ago)

tbf Josh you do have consistently terrible opinions

flopson, Tuesday, 5 September 2017 16:56 (eight years ago)

first episode still the best of this season imo but i like the more complex plots. overall def worse than s1 and s2 (nothing this season has been as funny as KEEP. SUMMER. SAFE.) but still one of the best shows

flopson, Tuesday, 5 September 2017 16:58 (eight years ago)

Either I am 25 years too old to find this funny

i definitely don't think of this as a show that appeals primarily to v young ppl

Mordy, Tuesday, 5 September 2017 17:32 (eight years ago)

No, I agree with that, I was just being flip. I just meant the fleeting stuff in it meant to be funny I didn't think was very funny, just non sequitur wannabe shocking.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 5 September 2017 17:41 (eight years ago)

is the new season out?

fwiw i dont think BJH really picks up until the end s1

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Tuesday, 5 September 2017 18:13 (eight years ago)

omnis sequitur, pillock

imago, Tuesday, 5 September 2017 18:13 (eight years ago)

Watching the seasons in reverse order has worked for me over the last few days.

albvivertine, Tuesday, 5 September 2017 21:41 (eight years ago)

is the new season out?

Available this Friday I believe

groovypanda, Wednesday, 6 September 2017 10:22 (eight years ago)

s3's finale pulls off emotional/tone whiplash better than almost anything I've seen in recent memory.

I love how sparing this show is with uh, "foul language" or whatever. Swearing isn't inherently funny, which a lot of shows seem to assume, and this show only throws it in when necessary, which weighs it SO much more. Tbh though this is basically a drama with comedic elements and comparing it to the average sweary comedy seems odd. It's also odd to have the only relatable show on tv that deals with depression/addiction be a cartoon about an asshole horse (as noted above) but I'll take what's available. It's not the first time I've felt voiced by Will Annett.

albvivertine, Friday, 8 September 2017 07:41 (eight years ago)

*there should be a "isn't the" in there somewhere.

albvivertine, Friday, 8 September 2017 07:42 (eight years ago)

Lol also "case". I've been pulling a BoJack tonight, soz

albvivertine, Friday, 8 September 2017 07:43 (eight years ago)

not just sparing. each series only contains ONE use of 'fuck', on each occasion used by an old friend of bojack's severing ties with him. when that was pointed out to me it blew me away.

imago, Friday, 8 September 2017 07:44 (eight years ago)

what will season four's fuck be? D: etc

imago, Friday, 8 September 2017 07:44 (eight years ago)

I think I just meant an *is. Something about this show, maaaaan xpost

albvivertine, Friday, 8 September 2017 07:49 (eight years ago)

Thanks for a) making it even worse and b) giving new a reason to rewatch

albvivertine, Friday, 8 September 2017 07:50 (eight years ago)

*me. So did the use of "cunt" once mean anything? It shocked me a little.

albvivertine, Friday, 8 September 2017 07:52 (eight years ago)

idk, it's fine if a british person says it ;)

imago, Friday, 8 September 2017 08:04 (eight years ago)

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Friday, 8 September 2017 11:33 (eight years ago)

Frederik B, Friday, 8 September 2017 22:26 (eight years ago)

I am now going to get stoned and properly poopsock this season

-_- (jim in vancouver), Saturday, 9 September 2017 02:33 (eight years ago)

"Stupid piece of shit" is really, really uncomfortably close to reality. My family went through nearly the same thing w/my grandmother and a doll.

Old Lynch's Sex Paragraph (Phil D.), Saturday, 9 September 2017 19:07 (eight years ago)

just when you think it can't get any better there's a (good) Bunuel homage
