The trouble with skipping episodes is that you miss stuff that sets up later payoffs. Just drink it all down and trust me that it gets good

I think you need to see 1.03. That sets up a lot of stuff. 5 and 6 are good as well. So, like, take it from 3?

You could jump to 1.08 (the Herb Kazazz episode) if you want to check how good it gets, and then double back, perhaps?

Imago's comparison is bad because rick n morty is much closer in quality to bojack (arguably better in some ways) than family guy or South Park for that matter are to the simpsons

Comedies seem to have it tougher, since so much timing and whatnot stems from chemistry and being comfortable with one another, writers and actors alike.

most animated comedies i think of took a couple years to cohere. king of the hill, simpsons, etc

id argue so far s3 of rick & morty seems like inarguably the most consistent so far

OK, I realized I had only seen the first episode, so gave it a fair shake. I made it to maybe halfway through episode 5 and ... nah, not going to happen. Either I am 25 years too old to find this funny, or maybe it's just not funny. Probably a combination.

first episode still the best of this season imo but i like the more complex plots. overall def worse than s1 and s2 (nothing this season has been as funny as KEEP. SUMMER. SAFE.) but still one of the best shows

I love how sparing this show is with uh, "foul language" or whatever. Swearing isn't inherently funny, which a lot of shows seem to assume, and this show only throws it in when necessary, which weighs it SO much more. Tbh though this is basically a drama with comedic elements and comparing it to the average sweary comedy seems odd. It's also odd to have the only relatable show on tv that deals with depression/addiction be a cartoon about an asshole horse (as noted above) but I'll take what's available. It's not the first time I've felt voiced by Will Annett.
