m puzzled as to why I know about this fight and am somewhat curious about the results. I don't care one iota about boxing and I don't normally know when fights are happening.

yeah that's what I was saying. I almost feel like I attended a hypnotist show earlier tonight where I was subliminally convinced to care about this and to forget about the show.

I feel bad for saying I don't care about Kaepernick, I'm 100% in his corner in terms of right to protest, subject of his protest, and the people criticizing him are idiots and fascists. I just also hate the whole spectacle of NFL to begin with, and it feels like this weird proxy culture war thing that has overshadowed the original issue.

the last famous person you were surprised to discover was actually (man alive), Wednesday, 27 September 2017 14:53 (eight years ago)

Like the recent protests in St Louis seem 10x more important and direct and real and get about 1/10 the attention.

Isn't it a good thing that something exists that will get that attention then

last night there was a show where in the usual clipped NPR diction someone was explaining the tax plan and after one not-that-long sentence, the guy adds, "Got all that? Okay." followed by the usual NPR thing of inserting a quote from someone else where they say just two words, then it's back to the reporter clip-dicting away.

It's probably been mentioned in this thread before, but my god: fantasy football

To me this seems like more of a waste of time than just about anything on Earth. Guys talk about it like they're real GMs. Constantly on their phones while games are going on to check out "their guys" are doing. To what end? I mean I get that everyone has their own interests and these can seem pointless and boring to others but good god man.
