In the US two. Haven't watched any yet though
― When I Get To The Borad (James Redd and the Blecchs), Sunday, 20 August 2017 18:03 (eight years ago)
Aargh! Two=too
Watch Eduardo Williams' The Human Surge! I will definitely rewatch. When first I saw it, I didn't really think much of it, but parts of it has stayed with me and I've been thinking more and more about some of the stuff that it did.
― Frederik B, Sunday, 20 August 2017 18:08 (eight years ago)
The Gold Bug is a pretty great example of how to deal with weird co-production schemes as well. Fun film.
― Frederik B, Sunday, 20 August 2017 18:10 (eight years ago)
In the US they are all directed by either Mariano Llinás or Alejo Moguillansky.
― When I Get To The Borad (James Redd and the Blecchs), Sunday, 20 August 2017 18:12 (eight years ago)
Intend to see all apart from Extraordinary Stories which is four hours long.
― xyzzzz__, Sunday, 20 August 2017 18:56 (eight years ago)
I watched the very beginning of Extraordinary Stories and would have watched more if I had time. Also watched the first two sections of Balnearios which I really enjoyed, but again didn't have time to finish. Would definitely want to see both in the entirety. Probably better to see a four hour movie in a theater though.
― When I Get To The Borad (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 9 September 2017 14:24 (eight years ago)
Mubi always creeps up on me. I intend to watch another, then finally have to download to phone when something is expiring and I watch as match as I can before it is wiped.
― When I Get To The Borad (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 9 September 2017 14:26 (eight years ago)
So, good luck to me with the three early Hitchcocks.
― When I Get To The Borad (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 9 September 2017 14:27 (eight years ago)
Or maybe I can finish watching the early Renoir Whirlpool of Fate that is already expired but still exists on my phone for a few more moments.
― When I Get To The Borad (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 9 September 2017 14:30 (eight years ago)
thought Cocote was excellent, a really haunting subversion of the filial revenge archetype to look at how religion shapes peoples awareness of their own agency within an urban/rural divide.

Terrific Hong Sang-soo retro on MUBI, watched three so far..the first two are gone but do catch the others if you haven't
― xyzzzz__, Thursday, 21 February 2019 11:52 (seven years ago)
Yeah I’m loving it, and uncharacteristically managing to remember to see them before they drop off - which is more than I can say about their wenders retro, all of which I have missed so far (meaning that I have still never seen a wenders film)
― A funny tinge happened on the way to the forum (wins), Thursday, 21 February 2019 16:57 (seven years ago)
This seems to not be on in the US :(
― Only a Factory URL (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 21 February 2019 18:36 (seven years ago)
You have to see Paris Texas wins!
― hot dog go to bathroom (cajunsunday), Thursday, 21 February 2019 19:07 (seven years ago)
Wenders is ok sometimes but that stuff comes around again and again. The Sang-soo retro is really useful because you hardly get a film of his on a good run.
Having said that I should watch Paris Texas actually.

Only seen Inland Sea, but it's pretty great! Jealous it's not on in Denmark, I would try and see them all.

Really dug this Mathieu Amalric film I just watched.
― Theorbo Goes Wild (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 27 March 2019 03:52 (seven years ago)
Has anyone checked out Ovid? Collective of small distributors banded together to start a streaming site of their own, it looks like they might be using the same back end as Mubi?

I'm really looking forward to this - timed to coincide with the 29th anniversary of Tsoi's death.
― ShariVari, Friday, 16 August 2019 11:41 (six years ago)
Excellent. Think this was playing at the ICA last week.

More Tsoi!
― ShariVari, Monday, 19 August 2019 11:39 (six years ago)
I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but I thought Leto was a bit so so. The story is fascinating, and I like the mood, but... I think Serebrennikov might just not be such a great filmmaker.
The Needle is pretty good though. And Assa, if they show that as well. That's a crazy film :)
― Frederik B, Monday, 19 August 2019 11:55 (six years ago)
Apparantly, Infinite Football is on there in many territories. Not Denmark. But if it's available, I do recommend it. Best film of 2018, imo.
― Frederik B, Friday, 20 December 2019 16:07 (six years ago)
The Romanian movie? Saw that there, looking forward and to watching, thanks for the recommendation.

― devvvine, Thursday, 21 May 2020 13:29 (six years ago)
Did you get some kind of notification? I didn't.
― Spocks on the Run (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 21 May 2020 13:32 (six years ago)
I got an email, stating:
«Our LIBRARY is now open.Today, we open our LIBRARY. A huge, brand new section of MUBI. Full of hundreds of incredible films.
Films you missed the first time we picked them. Films you can discover all over again. Films you never even knew existed.
From MUBI specials and retrospectives, to our double-bills and other exclusives. All hand-picked by us. As always.
LIBRARY is included with a MUBI membership. You can explore right now, on our website. And very soon on our Apple and Android apps.»
― Mule, Thursday, 21 May 2020 13:42 (six years ago)
Hm. The last email I got from MUBI was about The Last Laugh.
― Spocks on the Run (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 21 May 2020 13:55 (six years ago)
I’m in Europe btw
― Mule, Thursday, 21 May 2020 14:03 (six years ago)
Right, was wondering about that. Still, I can see some kind of library on my desktop.
― Spocks on the Run (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 21 May 2020 14:09 (six years ago)
xpostThink USA MUBI differs quite a bit from EURO MUBI
Glad to have a chance to catch-up with some things I missed - some of the Diaz, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, High Life, Bacurau, Jonas Mekas, The Wonders etc
If people haven't seen Serra's Story of My Death, that gets my highest recommendation fwiw
― Ward Fowler, Thursday, 21 May 2020 14:16 (six years ago)
yeah this library helps a lot. Ryuichi Sakamoto's Coda is one of the best things I saw last year.
