fair enough, think i just saw one angle immediately after. i turned it off at the final whistle, understandably enough. don't need to see analysis of that. i'm not altogether raging - there were some positives - the defence was that bad last season and they still finished top four. and at least they battled back from being behind. but yeah - champions league and even any two-legged tie like hoffenheim is a major problem with such a shit defence.

also - prob could argue attack squandered too many chances to put it to bed

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 12 August 2017 13:43 (eight years ago)

actually...I guess his foot is offside. Tough one to call though

Number None, Saturday, 12 August 2017 13:43 (eight years ago)

I thought he was offside but Watford deserved that draw overall. There could be some embarrassing European nights with that defence (if we get past Hoffenheim of course)

Well bissogled trotters (Michael B), Saturday, 12 August 2017 13:45 (eight years ago)

surely it's time to bury the hatchet with sahko. not saying he's the messiah but at least he's got a spine.

I'm really concerned about Chelsea. Looking at this team, with Alvaro Morata unable to compete and Pedro not available, where are the goals going to come from?

I think they might not even make the top four."

We could've done with some pundit transfers too smdh

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 12 August 2017 13:55 (eight years ago)

Cahill red.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:16 (eight years ago)

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:27 (eight years ago)

Palace pure panic! De Boer staggering under the weight of new formed forehead wrinkles

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:31 (eight years ago)

'rooney getting stuck in'

Both teams have started with the in-vogue three-man central defence system Everton have Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the right wing-back position. He's normally an attacking player and has already been caught out a few times by Stoke's Erik Pieters overlapping on the visitors' left wing. Wayne Rooney was given a huge cheer when his name was read out over the loudspeakers at the start. The biggest cheer of all Everton's five new signings. Rooney is rolling his sleeves up and getting stuck in as well, his most meaningful contribution so far was a defensive diving header to clear away a Stoke corner.

when words have the rhythm of a joke but are sad, not funny.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:32 (eight years ago)

ha! ha! Zaha fails to win a penalty from being a persistent diving twat!

calzino, Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:36 (eight years ago)

Palace are an absolute shambles. If this is De Boer's 'possession football' he'll be out by september.

Huddersfield bright and keen.

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:38 (eight years ago)

Burnley 2-0

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:39 (eight years ago)

(bit of Zanka's well-known non-defending there, whew)

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:39 (eight years ago)

Three!

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:42 (eight years ago)

You knew it was over when Conte went out in a tracksuit.

Matt DC, Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:44 (eight years ago)

Burnley cruelly displace Huddersfield from top spot

groovypanda, Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:45 (eight years ago)

:D

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:46 (eight years ago)

And Rooney scores. A day of miracles all round.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:47 (eight years ago)

is this that famous "street football" that Pardew was trying to invoke when he was at Palace? As in disorganised and just turning up to while away 90 mins!

calzino, Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:47 (eight years ago)

This is the best opening weekend ever.

Matt DC, Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:49 (eight years ago)

Otm.

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:50 (eight years ago)

Commentator "Huddersfield may tire towards the last third of the game"

these cunts have done zero research on Wagner's training regime.

calzino, Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:53 (eight years ago)

If anything Palace will tire towards the last third of the game because they've no clue and are shit.

This is mostly due to Wagner's game plan imo, pressing up really high, making Palace v nervous.

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:55 (eight years ago)

Apologies to renown pundit Martin Keown for scoffing; he was otm.

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 12 August 2017 14:56 (eight years ago)

Brave JT's Villa losing 1-0 at Cardiff as well.

Matt DC, Saturday, 12 August 2017 15:09 (eight years ago)

Mounie 3-0 . Fuck he'll be gone by the jan transfer window!

calzino, Saturday, 12 August 2017 15:36 (eight years ago)

Mounie!

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 12 August 2017 15:37 (eight years ago)

xp

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 12 August 2017 15:37 (eight years ago)

Mind you, he might stay if we are still in a champion's league berth!

calzino, Saturday, 12 August 2017 15:37 (eight years ago)

Vardy's still at Leicester, so I don't see why Mounié can't stay after winning the title.

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 12 August 2017 15:40 (eight years ago)

Fabregas sent off now too

Number None, Saturday, 12 August 2017 15:41 (eight years ago)

3-2 though.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Saturday, 12 August 2017 15:46 (eight years ago)

These pricks had better not get something out of this.

Matt DC, Saturday, 12 August 2017 15:47 (eight years ago)

Morata's been really good

Number None, Saturday, 12 August 2017 15:47 (eight years ago)

Paulinho IN at Barca. £36.5m

Number None, Saturday, 12 August 2017 16:37 (eight years ago)

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 12 August 2017 17:16 (eight years ago)

Lol what a day of sporting glory

plp will eat itself (NickB), Saturday, 12 August 2017 18:20 (eight years ago)

If Barca then shell out for Soldado and Vlad Chiriches we need to start worrying.

Matt DC, Saturday, 12 August 2017 19:47 (eight years ago)

watching MOTD has re-affirmed that Lossl has made two very good saves today, but still his distribution is L1 standard. but sometimes they all seem shite tbh.

calzino, Saturday, 12 August 2017 22:43 (eight years ago)

Was at a wedding miles from radio or any other telecommunications infrastructure.

Did I miss owt

jk rowling obituary thread (darraghmac), Sunday, 13 August 2017 08:47 (eight years ago)

I think the main story was that apart from a few exceptions, most premiership defences are still in pissed up holiday mode.

calzino, Sunday, 13 August 2017 10:45 (eight years ago)

Sissoko in the starting line-up oh dear.

Matt DC, Sunday, 13 August 2017 12:01 (eight years ago)

Booing Sissoko is odd. How many Newcastle fans would have rather he stayed?

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Sunday, 13 August 2017 12:43 (eight years ago)

he acted like a twat his entire time there tbf
