Suspect the fact that both the Hound and the Mountain are now basically unkillable means they'll have a pretty crucial part to play in the eventual White Walker battle.

Had a mate point out that in the opening titles this season the sea around Eastwatch is frozen over and that next week's episode is called Eastwatch so I guess we may be seeing the White Walkers very soon.

in the books there's a pretty good passage that mentions undead things from the oceans

i really dislike how everyone in the daenerys storyline stands far apart from each other, like 10 to 20 feet apart, often in symmetrical formations. i get what they're trying to do, which is kind of draw attention to each individual character and their motives in relation to each other, and often to the power structure, with daenerys at the top and a few advisors (symmetrically) supporting her and all that, but it also subtly makes everything look really fake

I figured they were doing it just to make the scene easier to shoot and edit so that they're not all stuck together in one master shot.

i hadn't considered that. if that's what they're doing, it would explain why most of the acting in her storyline resembles actors reading from a script, talking to a stand-in. but i kind of doubt they'd do that, right? it's one thing if you're filming spacejam and bill murray is going to have to talk to a fake marvin the martian until they fill it in with animation later, but why do it when you have real actors? i guess that would explain why they don't seem to do much walking around or interacting with their surroundings, either (talking mainly about previous seasons here, although there's elements of that in the new one, too)

i really miss tyrion in his kings landing days, having conversations with really good actors

i am really grumpy today, possible i'm overreacting

it was a longshot casting decision and initially you could believe in it but now it's like, wow, she is terrible

that was like an entire book's worth of incidents in a single episode

i was gonna say, for the first time ever this show needs to slow down

not complaining, but this is the most i've looked forward to grr martin finishing those damned books, because i feel like the however many hundreds of pages we just saw will play out better in greater detail and slower mo on the page

i enjoyed that episode quite a bit, but yeah, i would have liked some of those scenes to be twice as long and spread out over a couple episodes.

- i don't like the fan service inside jokes, like davos making a joke about gendry still rowing a boat

My wife did mention that she thought he was grabbing an oar when he showed Davos his hammer

tbh i could do without another 'escape from beyond the wall' episode

so the show wants us to think that littlefinger has outsmarted arya but smart money is arya still being two steps ahead

On tonight's episode of game of thrones, a ragtag bunch of ex-hotshots defy 7 seasons worth of attrition and storyline slog to meet up serendipitously in the course of 15 real life minutes and an estimated 1 hr of westerosi time

but you gotta admit the crew heading north of the wall is pretty sweet

Everything bad about the last two seasons feels so irrelevant right about now

"kidnap a wight who infects everything it kills" seems like a bad plan to me tbh

i can't remember if it was supposed to be obvious or not but a friend of mine mentioned this theory about 2 years ago and completely ruined that aspect of the show for me

really? idk, makes the stakes of the story feel more exciting

this ragtag bunch of misfits is fantastic. jon, gendry, davos, jorah, the hound, beric, thoros, tormund.

good episode. never minded jon snow or danys, thought they were better than usual here.
