ideally by him throwing something against the wall to illustrate the concept

"walls - good for warmth, of course, but could we put them to use to, if you will, 'block' the movement of an enemy force?"
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Friday, 11 August 2017 12:18 (eight years ago)
"but qyburn walls are tiny, an army can simply knock them over"
"not the wall i have in mind..."

where's the Lorax when we need him?
― President Keyes, Friday, 11 August 2017 14:26 (eight years ago)
Suspect the fact that both the Hound and the Mountain are now basically unkillable means they'll have a pretty crucial part to play in the eventual White Walker battle.
― Matt DC, Friday, 11 August 2017 14:39 (eight years ago)
Had a mate point out that in the opening titles this season the sea around Eastwatch is frozen over and that next week's episode is called Eastwatch so I guess we may be seeing the White Walkers very soon.
― groovypanda, Friday, 11 August 2017 16:22 (eight years ago)
in the books there's a pretty good passage that mentions undead things from the oceans
― 龜, Friday, 11 August 2017 16:24 (eight years ago)
i'd probably forgive all the shitty bad parts if we got a shot of euron greyjoy and his ship being pulled down by a white walker kraken
― 龜, Friday, 11 August 2017 16:25 (eight years ago)
you probably wouldn't call them walkers though. white swimmers

i really dislike how everyone in the daenerys storyline stands far apart from each other, like 10 to 20 feet apart, often in symmetrical formations. i get what they're trying to do, which is kind of draw attention to each individual character and their motives in relation to each other, and often to the power structure, with daenerys at the top and a few advisors (symmetrically) supporting her and all that, but it also subtly makes everything look really fake
― Karl Malone, Friday, 11 August 2017 19:04 (eight years ago)
I figured they were doing it just to make the scene easier to shoot and edit so that they're not all stuck together in one master shot.
― Josh in Chicago, Friday, 11 August 2017 19:19 (eight years ago)
i hadn't considered that. if that's what they're doing, it would explain why most of the acting in her storyline resembles actors reading from a script, talking to a stand-in. but i kind of doubt they'd do that, right? it's one thing if you're filming spacejam and bill murray is going to have to talk to a fake marvin the martian until they fill it in with animation later, but why do it when you have real actors? i guess that would explain why they don't seem to do much walking around or interacting with their surroundings, either (talking mainly about previous seasons here, although there's elements of that in the new one, too)
i really miss tyrion in his kings landing days, having conversations with really good actors
i am really grumpy today, possible i'm overreacting

they are talking to emilia clarke, so basically, yes, that is what is going on
it was a longshot casting decision and initially you could believe in it but now it's like, wow, she is terrible
― As an ilxor, I am uncompromising (El Tomboto), Saturday, 12 August 2017 16:08 (eight years ago)
and I am not one to complain about the acting on this show, as this thread attests, I think
― As an ilxor, I am uncompromising (El Tomboto), Saturday, 12 August 2017 16:10 (eight years ago)

fixed that for you. gold master, ship it!

that was like an entire book's worth of incidents in a single episode
― reggie (qualmsley), Monday, 14 August 2017 02:19 (eight years ago)
i was gonna say, for the first time ever this show needs to slow down
― Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Monday, 14 August 2017 02:25 (eight years ago)
not complaining, but this is the most i've looked forward to grr martin finishing those damned books, because i feel like the however many hundreds of pages we just saw will play out better in greater detail and slower mo on the page
― reggie (qualmsley), Monday, 14 August 2017 02:32 (eight years ago)
i enjoyed that episode quite a bit, but yeah, i would have liked some of those scenes to be twice as long and spread out over a couple episodes.
+ gendry!- i don't like the fan service inside jokes, like davos making a joke about gendry still rowing a boat
― Karl Malone, Monday, 14 August 2017 02:35 (eight years ago)
My wife did mention that she thought he was grabbing an oar when he showed Davos his hammer
― Evan, Monday, 14 August 2017 02:38 (eight years ago)
tbh i could do without another 'escape from beyond the wall' episode
― 龜, Monday, 14 August 2017 02:41 (eight years ago)
so the show wants us to think that littlefinger has outsmarted arya but smart money is arya still being two steps ahead
― 龜, Monday, 14 August 2017 02:46 (eight years ago)
On tonight's episode of game of thrones, a ragtag bunch of ex-hotshots defy 7 seasons worth of attrition and storyline slog to meet up serendipitously in the course of 15 real life minutes and an estimated 1 hr of westerosi time
― crunchytunes, Monday, 14 August 2017 03:17 (eight years ago)
but you gotta admit the crew heading north of the wall is pretty sweet
― Karl Malone, Monday, 14 August 2017 03:18 (eight years ago)
Loved, LOVED the seven samurai heading north.

― As an ilxor, I am uncompromising (El Tomboto), Monday, 14 August 2017 03:39 (eight years ago)
It's the seven living men who have survived the worst plans team
― As an ilxor, I am uncompromising (El Tomboto), Monday, 14 August 2017 03:40 (eight years ago)
+gendry ! :D
seven samurai p dope imo
if this show doesnt kill off these dudes i'm gonna be so happy when/if arya gets to meet up again with the hound and gendry and jon
also based on the few breadcrumbs in this ep jon's a targaeryan right? the dragon patting & then sam's wife's throwaway line abt rhaegar's annulment
dumb question but is there a possibility that jaime's *not* the father?
― Yoni Loves Chocha (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 14 August 2017 05:02 (eight years ago)
also based on the few breadcrumbs in this ep jon's a targaeryan right?
i can't remember if it was supposed to be obvious or not but a friend of mine mentioned this theory about 2 years ago and completely ruined that aspect of the show for me
― Karl Malone, Monday, 14 August 2017 05:08 (eight years ago)
really? idk, makes the stakes of the story feel more exciting
but then i dont hate jon snow like everyone else itt
― Yoni Loves Chocha (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 14 August 2017 05:10 (eight years ago)
it's gonna add another dimension to their 15-minute sex scene, at least!
i like jon snow btw!! i like pretty much any scene he's in
― Karl Malone, Monday, 14 August 2017 05:13 (eight years ago)
this ragtag bunch of misfits is fantastic. jon, gendry, davos, jorah, the hound, beric, thoros, tormund.
― nomar, Monday, 14 August 2017 05:19 (eight years ago)
good episode. never minded jon snow or danys, thought they were better than usual here.
