Wow, they fucking nailed that Dothraki/Drogon attack. I know I'm doing my share of lame comments as well, but this show still nails the iconic parts of this story when it matters.

pretty sure they wouldn't have jaime saved from an epic flaming death just to drown from a plunge into a pond.

guys they are setting up a parallel -- do you see -- in that other episode Theon saved himself by jumping in the water and his dick got cut off in a previous season -- now it's Jaime who is missing a hand and couldn't operate the giant crossbow jumping in the water!

I'm almost willing to bet the follow up scene will be Bronn dragging Jaime out of the water downstream somewhere, avoiding capture but being all alone. As implausible as it would be for Bronn to drag a fully armored guy to a distant shore it seems to me like the most likely story driven outcome.

Also, she would have lost zero Dothraki if she just burned all the Lannister army without them charging? Seems kinda like dumb battle tactics to me. She only just learned that they have anti-dragon missiles. Otherwise it's kind of invincible...

I was like 'don't burn the convoy, steal their food at least'. I was kinda hoping Drogon was gonna liquify the gold bars though.

Yeah, I wasn't clear on whether or not the stuff they burned was the food they talked about Cersei taking earlier? I guess not.

so:

-dany is gonna get drunk with power and torch the countryside + win - then white walkers overrun the wall and she will have a humbling moment before pivoting to face them?
-will sansa put the hit out on arya?

why would sansa try to get rid of arya?

anyway that battle sequence set the record for most stuntmen set on fire in one scene

bad vibes from the look sansa gave arya while she was sparring and (minor spoiler) i think sophie turner said sansa was going to do something bad this season, and wouldn't that be just the perfect twist?

I expected a false charge from the Dothraki - they'd get just outside of arrow range (Westeros archers seem to not be up to English longbowman standards) while she swooped in with the dragon. Does seem pretty pointless to get them killed breaking the lines she was just going to torch anyway.

i guess the more popoular theory is that sansa will enlist arya to kill carcetti

totally ridiculous. dragonstone is the new dorne, almost everything that happens there is stupid/funny. i also like how they didn't show any shots of davos or missandei since the cave had to be both the cave of faintly expositional history and the cave of smouldering sexual chemistry. they couldn't have done much more to show jon/dany romance is coming short of showing him with a visible boner. like 3/4 separate setups for that.

when the dragon toasted a load of men it felt like a payoff the promise of which had kept me watching the show this whole time. the whole battle scene was great and what was nice was that i didn't think a big scene like that was coming this episode, in previous seasons the battles have been on the way for a while.

loved the arya/brienne scene too.

so is this the end of the giant crossbow of innovation or was this meant to show what a great idea it is so let's build more?

also why did she leave the other two dragons at home? do they need someone to be riding them to be used effectively?

I don't know about everybody else but I my pedantic cynicism is schtick

you can suspend disbelief and also expect some kind of internal logic - that said i mostly just enjoy gently mocking this show - it is a bit silly is all. the cave paintings as an idea are of course totally plausible, i can't speak for others but i mocked them because they looked so stupid. the entire cave scene was p funny.

it was mildly fucked up learning that the cave drawings are meant to resemble the geometric patterns that we've seen the white walkers arrange dismembered bodies in, i.e. the white walkers learned about those shapes from the people of the forest, who created them

Euron Greyjoy's battleship(s?) seem a bit fantastic, with their massive iron (tank-like) enclosures affixed to the lower part of the ship... how many ships are in his fleet? 1000? shit seems a bit advanced--with ultra-accurate, firebomb hurling catapults, battering ram/spear -type thing, and a deck-crushing, see-sawing gangplank... seems a bit far-fetched.
