I think it was Vulture that suggested it'll be the head of Ellaria Sand - I'm buying that
― El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 01:18 (eight years ago)
Ooh yes that makes sense given she offed Myrcella (?)
― Stoop Crone (Trayce), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 01:24 (eight years ago)
Too much poop, for too long, not amused.
― Hadrian VIII, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 01:38 (eight years ago)
Also: too much cadaver. Back to gratuitous nudity please.
― Hadrian VIII, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 01:39 (eight years ago)
Maybe Euron is gonna get that dragon binding horn from the books
― text text text text (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 02:01 (eight years ago)
I did think that. Maybe there'll be a Scanners style battle between wargs and whoever is blowing the horn.
Must have been squatters at Dany's place.
― Robert Adam Gilmour, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 02:19 (eight years ago)
oh isn't the wallbusting horn a thing in the show? i read the books recently and couldn't tell what'd been skipped, aside from obv stuff like zombieCat
― Stoop Crone (Trayce), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 02:27 (eight years ago)
yes, the wallbusting horn has shown up in the show
― Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 02:36 (eight years ago)
there are like 3 magic horns in the book tho, euron has one, sam has one, maybe frodo has one idk
― Clay, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 02:37 (eight years ago)
Beric Dondarrion is Sherrif Dan from Fortitude.
And that his sidekick, Thoros, is Dennis Pennis.
― I'm make-believe. (jed_), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 02:57 (eight years ago)
Arya has been such a shit character for so long it totally gets on my tits. And Maisie Williams is rubbish.

No way.
― Robert Adam Gilmour, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 03:27 (eight years ago)
Just searched to see if there's a Varys DESTROYS Red Priestess/religion video with her comeback edited out. There isn't.
― Robert Adam Gilmour, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 03:29 (eight years ago)
i thought the scene w sheeran was great tbh

You're good at this you know.
What?
Ruling.
― wtev, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 06:01 (eight years ago)
so sheeranu is meant to be part of lannister army right?
― 龜, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 06:21 (eight years ago)
TBH I felt a little confused as to exactly whose army they were.
― Stoop Crone (Trayce), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 06:41 (eight years ago)
So they were basically meant to be innocents. It didnt come across clearly, I guess is my gripe. I just assumed they were all rubbish actors/had bad material to work with. It was the only part that really clanged.
It was definitely a bit "clangy" -- it makes more sense in the context of the books (though yes we are past the books) where there are hundreds of pages devoted to the pointless skirmishes and devastation of the riverlands and the big swathes of land between Kings Landing and the North. I just wonder if this handful of infantry cannonfodder reappear or if they're doing an Ian McShane again
― sarahell, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 08:27 (eight years ago)
Is that bunch going to stick around if that Shane Meadows troupe actor Thomas Turgoose is somebody recognisable.I couldn't think who it was for a while and thought we maybe had met him elsewhere in the show. Not sure how recognisable he is really so can't exclude it being a cameo. But is it likely to be more of a part?
― Stevolende, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 10:27 (eight years ago)
Disliked Sheeran's appearance because it was very "hey look who it is!" and I don't think that happened with the other guest musicians. Though I wouldn't have recognised the Coldplay guy anyway.
― Robert Adam Gilmour, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 11:31 (eight years ago)
Was quite looking forward to Sheeran's character being eviscerated tbqh.

Sheeranu?
Oovarvu!

Christ I ain't heard those phrases in years.
― Stoop Crone (Trayce), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 11:38 (eight years ago)
Good episode all in - better than most of the last season. Felt like they were teeing everything up nicely, which is good because previous season openers have been very ponderous and they can't afford to piss about any more.
Also the (in hindsight ridiculous) body count at the end of last season has enabled them to focus on the characters that really matter and they're all in broadly the right places now.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 11:43 (eight years ago)
Over/under on Bran warging into a dragon?
― Old Lynch's Sex Paragraph (Phil D.), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 13:13 (eight years ago)
At least one dragon is getting warged, another wighted.
― nashwan, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 13:25 (eight years ago)
The remaining one...wedgied?
― nashwan, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 13:26 (eight years ago)
if the night's king can wight one of Dany's dragons I'll be surprised and disappointed and sad, but you kinda predicted jodie whittaker so I'll go ahead and mentally prepare for that now
― El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 13:28 (eight years ago)
surely at least one dragon will die
― ogmor, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 13:29 (eight years ago)
Yeah the ice dragon/dragon wight is coming--I think it might have been foreshadowed by one of Old Nan's stories in the books? (Along with giant ice spiders)
― text text text text (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 13:33 (eight years ago)
That Ed Sheeran scene was GOT #notallmen
― President Keyes, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 13:42 (eight years ago)
"Where is Melisandre now anyway?"
boobing it up in some other corner of westeros
"Arya has been such a shit character for so long it totally gets on my tits. And Maisie Williams is rubbish."
WTF
― akm, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 13:44 (eight years ago)
I think I might be bored of this show now. There wasn't much wrong with the episode, I just found myself not caring about any of it.
― Eallach mhór an duine leisg (dowd), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 13:47 (eight years ago)
Still wouldn't be so confident they don't just screw around for an entire season, what else actually needs to happen before a massive war?
BTW - do Urine Greyjoy/Lannisters know about (a) the white walkers and (b) dragons? Can't remember if they were never told or were told and simply think it's a load of northern yokel bollocks?
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 13:54 (eight years ago)
I liked the episode a lot but the contrast between how much I get out of this and how much I get out of the new twin peaks is sorta glaring and damning. In previous seasons of GOT there hasn't been another show to put it into the shade to such an extent
― or at night (Jon not Jon), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 13:56 (eight years ago)
The show is still good, though now that they've moved away from the books it's full of fan-service stuff--Arya kills the RW perps, zombie giants, more flirting between the redhead and Brienne, bad guys become cuddly, Sansa throws shade at Littlefinger, Ed Sheeran drops by Boss Hog's club to sing a song. Surely Gendry's boat will show up soon.
― President Keyes, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 13:56 (eight years ago)
x-post Yeah, I watched it straight after the new Twin Peaks, which might have been part of the problem.
― Eallach mhór an duine leisg (dowd), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 13:59 (eight years ago)
The Lannisters knew about the dragons, they just didn't seem to care much when everything was kicking off closer to home. They've done a pretty bad job of establishing the Iron Islanders other than Theon so who even knows what they know.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 14:34 (eight years ago)
It's been clearly established over and over that most people, many highborns included, think that dragons and white walkers and giants and wights and all that stuff we've seen a lot of already do not exist.
― I want to change my display name (dan m), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 14:38 (eight years ago)
Cersei definitely knows about the dragons, there's a scene where (I think) Varys is telling her, she just dismissed them as babies. As far as I can tell virtually everyone thinks that the White Walkers are a fairy tale.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 14:55 (eight years ago)
In the Kingsmoot scene from last season, Euron's entire pitch to become king was that he knew about Dany and her dragons and wanted to marry her and offer his ships, but Theon and his sister beat him to the punch by defecting with a large part of the fleet.
In the books, Euron is a strange and evil sort of mystic who has sailed all over the world and he seems pretty abreast of all magical happenings in the world. The show seems to have turned him into yet another sex pirate, tho.
― text text text text (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 14:56 (eight years ago)
He kinda looks like a young Oliver Reed though and is basically the new Ramsay so it's all good.
― nashwan, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 14:57 (eight years ago)
Jon Snow send ravens with news of the white walkers when he came back to Castle Black, so everyone should know. I think they just didn't believe him.
― Frederik B, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 15:03 (eight years ago)
How could I forget the scene when Cersei pulled out of the Winterfell accord?
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 18 July 2017 15:13 (eight years ago)
still, a bit odd that anyone could just waltz on in and see the big board.

I figured there was maybe a small garrison/skeleton staff who understandably fled at first sight of big fuck off warfleet plus dragons.
― chap, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 15:16 (eight years ago)
Stannis took his entire family with him, though; the former residents would have been wiped out in Robert's Rebellion, and Melisandre had burned all the non-believers; I think it's fair to say Dragonstone was completely abandoned. I think Dany herself is the last living person with ties to the place.
― El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 15:35 (eight years ago)
It's not entirely logical though. George RR Martin also made sure to have a subplot explaining what happened with Dragonstone afterwards, so it's not unnatural to wonder why it wasn't garrisoned.
― Frederik B, Tuesday, 18 July 2017 15:38 (eight years ago)

I'm A LOT less pumped for Game Of Thrones but my loving of Twin Peaks doesn't have much to do with it. How many other expensive tv shows would be allowed that kind of unique vision?
I think Keyes is right. This show is just going to get more pandering, even if they removed all the sex and nudity.
