please reconsider using "retarded" as a term of opprobrium. it's worse than stupid to do that.

Has anyone mentioned that inspirobot is obviously fake? Like, those were clearly not generated by any 'AI' at all. I've seen a few of these things now: someone can't get any attention for their banal comedy/aphorisms/poetry/artwork so they claim that an 'AI' made it and suddenly they're rolling in clicks. Happy to be wrong if anyone has a link to the github repo or the text corpus it's based on
― Dan I., Sunday, 16 July 2017 23:07 (eight years ago)
how many have you looked at? after hitting the button a dozen times you start to see the framework
― qualx, Monday, 17 July 2017 02:25 (eight years ago)
yeah there are a bunch that don’t read as funny or vaguely logical and it’s a pretty simple structure of “x doesn’t blah because z” style subjects and verbs spit out by something that understands general grammatical rules
― mh, Monday, 17 July 2017 02:48 (eight years ago)
i don't think it even needs to understand grammar, it just uses a bunch of templates and fills in the blanks with appropriate parts of speech. it's mad libs.
― qualx, Monday, 17 July 2017 04:16 (eight years ago)
A merely grammar-based AI would generate wholly nonsensical memes, because not every verb makes sense with every subject or object. There must be a semantic element at work there, unless Inspirobot generates utter nonsense a fair amount of the time. Confession: I haven't wasted spent time mindlessly clicking it and seeing what it spits out.
― A is for (Aimless), Monday, 17 July 2017 05:02 (eight years ago)
obviously it is coded beyond literal actual mad libs, and it occasionally shows its cracks
― qualx, Monday, 17 July 2017 05:13 (eight years ago)
Perhaps it is hybrid - that is, the memeage is in fact auto-generated, but a person culls the selections to favor the absurdities most likely to be thought funny by internetz. The ones that are simple non sequiturs without lol appeal are discarded to increase the apparent quality of the overall pool.
― didgeridon't (Ye Mad Puffin), Monday, 17 July 2017 12:39 (eight years ago)
Ah, I see, it is AI in the sense that dumping a box of Cards Against Humanity cards on the floor and randomly selecting one of each type is AI.
― Dan I., Monday, 17 July 2017 21:37 (eight years ago)
It's a bot, it's not AI.
― emil.y, Monday, 17 July 2017 21:54 (eight years ago)
idk why being pedantic about what ai means is necessary. when I was a kid that meant dr sbaitso and this seems to be on that level

a supervisor made my co-worker cry a couple weeks ago, for good reason not in an abusive boss way, and that night she posted this to her instagramhttps://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/ec/48/15/ec481541e742498056ee0b2e7efae9c2--unbroken-quotes-feeling-down-quotes.jpg

i mean the criticism was needed, not the crying. the crying was unnecessary.
