Ladies and germans, I'm back in the credit card game, but this time I'm Doing Things RightTM by getting a ridiculously low credit limit and using it to pay my bills automatically (2-fold benefit: I pay all my bills on time and I build my credit at the same time. and I only have to write one check, so 3-fold).

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Friday, 28 April 2006 17:37 (twenty years ago)

Note: Exotic/weird flower bulbs also make excellent gifts for girlfriends, wives, and mothers.

Holy makkara, Toivo! (OutDatWay), Friday, 28 April 2006 17:38 (twenty years ago)

Ridiculously low=$250!

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Friday, 28 April 2006 17:38 (twenty years ago)

I think it's about not buying expensive electronics from sketchy on-line retailers.

Dell and Geeks.com are not sketchy!

I don't know what that is but it made me snort with laughter.

Safety First (pullapartgirl), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:21 (twenty years ago)

Well, I mean, I know what that is. It's a pope. It came up on a GIS for Georgia O'Keefe.

Safety First (pullapartgirl), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:22 (twenty years ago)

looks like wayland flowers and madame.

I am listening to Toots & the Maytals. This must be some of the most universally appealing music ever created. Unless you hate fun.

Holy makkara, Toivo! (OutDatWay), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:36 (twenty years ago)

I remember being in high school and the one good local reggae band would cover "Pressure Drop" and I thought it was super amazing that those dudes wrote a song that good. And then I heard one of the 900 other versions of that song, and couldn't believe how much better it could get!

Holy makkara, Toivo! (OutDatWay), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:38 (twenty years ago)

For my money, there are few people that can make you happier than this one.

Man Man (kenan), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:38 (twenty years ago)

i've got the mummies on right now. nothing quite as cathartic as singing along to a chorus of "STAB A MOTHERFUCKER IN THE BACK" whilest at your place of employment.

it's a sublime treat.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:39 (twenty years ago)

"Pressure Drop" is one of my top, oh, say 25 songs of all time ever.

Safety First (pullapartgirl), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:39 (twenty years ago)

OMG JENNY WE"RE LIKE SISTERS!!!! *hops up and down*

Holy makkara, Toivo! (OutDatWay), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:41 (twenty years ago)

I am listening to Antonio Vivaldi, Nisi Dominus, RV 608 IV Cum dederit dilectus suis somnum. Or so I understand.

Man Man (kenan), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:42 (twenty years ago)

Have you ever heard the Izzy Stradlin & the Ju Ju Hounds version? It is surpringly awesome. xpost

Holy makkara, Toivo! (OutDatWay), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:43 (twenty years ago)

"surpringly" - bursting with Pringly goodness.

Holy makkara, Toivo! (OutDatWay), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:43 (twenty years ago)

Izzy was my introduction to that song. It's the best song on that album (which is not a bad album, IIRC!).

Man Man (kenan), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:44 (twenty years ago)

"Pressure Drop" is one of my top, oh, say 25 songs of all time ever.

I can get behind that.

gbx (skowly), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:45 (twenty years ago)

Come to think of it, Guns n' Roses was my formal introduction to the Rolling Stones.

Man Man (kenan), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:47 (twenty years ago)

Dave-o, I don't think cheering at the station is going to work out, they seem nervous about us bringing extra people. I've come up with an alternate solution to the lack of crowd noise problem.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:48 (twenty years ago)

Um, has anyone ever heard of a Tim from ILX? I just got a weird email. Did anyone else get one?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:52 (twenty years ago)

Not I.

Holy makkara, Toivo! (OutDatWay), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:55 (twenty years ago)

Safety First (pullapartgirl), Friday, 28 April 2006 18:57 (twenty years ago)

Man Man (kenan), Friday, 28 April 2006 19:01 (twenty years ago)

That's what happens when ye talk about salad spinning on the Internet.

I really wish that wasn't an xpost.

Hi, I'm in Montreal, at rrrobyn's apartment. It is nice.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 28 April 2006 19:04 (twenty years ago)

Just write back and say "I don't think my fiance would like that, he works out a lot and is in a punk band." PROBLEM SOLVED

Holy makkara, Toivo! (OutDatWay), Friday, 28 April 2006 19:04 (twenty years ago)

xpost Say herrro for me!

Man Man (kenan), Friday, 28 April 2006 19:05 (twenty years ago)

My first instinct is to recoil, but really, why? Even if he intends a romantic overtone, that's not automatically bad. He doesn't know that you're engaged and he might just be taking a risk at trying to talk to a woman that he finds interesting. So why is my first reaction, "Ew"?

xpost: see? Like Kenan said. What is there about that message that is making us all feel squicked automatically? Let's analyze, people.

Safety First (pullapartgirl), Friday, 28 April 2006 19:06 (twenty years ago)

Bienvenue, J. et R.

I think it's the "I was wondering" - implies shuffling and thought and consideration, but without the forthrightness to actually begin a conversation. (I do this in a terrible way sometimes.)

Eazy (Eazy), Friday, 28 April 2006 19:10 (twenty years ago)

i think on the subconscious level i'm disturbed by the "purplemonkey" aspect of the email address.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Friday, 28 April 2006 19:11 (twenty years ago)

and seriously, there are 10 other purplemonkeydishwashers with yahoo addresses? really?

otto midnight (otto midnight), Friday, 28 April 2006 19:11 (twenty years ago)

I am curious which "one" of your posts piqued his interest so.

Man Man (kenan), Friday, 28 April 2006 19:11 (twenty years ago)

"purple monkey dishwasher" is a Simpson's reference so it's possible to likely that there are ten other people with that email address.

I find it icky for many of the same reasons I find Myspace icky. I have this innate distrust of internet + romantic intent.

xpost I am guessing it was one of the lovely sequence in the botanical garden?

Holy makkara, Toivo! (OutDatWay), Friday, 28 April 2006 19:13 (twenty years ago)

FedEx just delivered my dishwasher. The driver did not knock, but instead yelled out "Hello?"

When I opened the door he said, "If I know you were home, I call you for you to carry this up the stairs. It's real heavy."

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Friday, 28 April 2006 19:13 (twenty years ago)

Nick, cool. You guys still FAP (ha, just wanted to type it that way... Brits!) afterwards?

Eazy (Eazy), Friday, 28 April 2006 19:14 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to check out an apartment in the WP right now. I just had a meeting with a writing mentor who was super nice. I am taking notes post-talk, and there is one thing he said... oh wait, I just remembered.... gotta go! :)

regular roundups (Dave M), Friday, 28 April 2006 19:15 (twenty years ago)

I ain't hating players, I'm hating their shitty game.
