Your original attempt wasn't the address of an image file - it was the address of a whole page.

The photobucket one is password protected, I guess because you didn't use the address of the photo given for linking to, but just clicked on image properties when you were logged into your photobucket account. When you upload a photo to photobucket, make you use the url it gives you in the box underneath.
