I'm assuming not. They know there are two complaints...power and upgradability/modularity. This only solves one of those problems.

their long term strategy has always been to dump upgradability, and if you can do external gpu/storage/etc then they're outsourcing modularity

sucks for retouchers who just want a powerful computer and no screen.

I just for a second thought about an audio file format where you don't have two channels, but a preferred location/depth stream for different parts of the audio

tbh even the mid tier home audio receivers now have the little dongle where you can run through a setup routine to adjust to the acoustics of your room, it's just the audio we're playing doesn't care as much about that

every audiophile who has perfected their home for an exact number of channels would go insane

i don't necessarily trust apple, but they do seem like the only company with the ability to build voice-activated hardware that doesn't also have shitty institutional DNA re: surveillance and privacy.

agreed, all indications are still that they have no interest in scraping data for reasons other than guiding their own product decisions, which would mean general patterns

it maybe a cynical move motivated by money in that they've identified a influential market (tinfoil nerds) and a profitable market (parents worried about their kids being surveilled/marketed to). i am totally fine with that.

I think it's partially the fact they don't like marketing any products other than their own and don't want to help people market theirs, unless it's something they sell at their own store
