In fact a 35% – 50% fat concentration is common among many species of whale as the higher fat percentage allows the whales milk to travel through the water without breaking up.

The thick milk is often referred to as having a toothpaste like consistency.

This is very important because in order for the adult female whale to feed her baby she must either shoot the milk into her baby’s mouth through the water or allow the child to suckle the milk from her nipple.

i had some weird hipster coffee over the weekend and had crazy aromatics (lavender and some other stuff)

i bought some almond milk creamer & it has coconut cream in it too. it's not bad!
i love milk too much to say it's great...but it's fine.

I've had a "Cuban" latte involving raw sugar packed with the grounds, and steamed coconut milk. I'm not usually a fan of the latte style but it was pretty darn nice.
Tiny dollop of coconut cream maybe? or regular actual cream instead of whatever abomination Americans mean when they ask "cream or sugar?"

For years I only drank coffee with half and half or espresso with milk foam (ie. cappuccino or macchiato). My brother who works in the coffee business always gave me a hard time about it. I decided to try forgoing the dairy, and it was surprisingly easier than I thought it would be. You do realize how many nuances of the flavor you were missing before.

otm. i feel like sugar and milk are the equivalent of mustard on steak. like it's not bad but if your coffee's good and you've made it fresh why cover up the taste?

This is why I like the macchiato - a tiny dab of foam as an emollient to give a different flavour structure, and the rest of the coffee to express its native flavours. Best of both. The latte, flat white, cappuccino et al. can go to hell. Likewise sugar can alter the flavour balance, something to do with how we perceive taste, but I very rarely use it except to sometimes pack brown sugar in with the ground coffee when firing up the Gaggia, you get a dark caramel thing going on and it changes what flavours come out of the grounds, recommend if you have a home espresso thing.

I like almond milk fine! It's less creamy than dairy and doesn't add that silky mouth-feel but I actually think the nutty flavor is a better complement to the coffee taste.

I once worked at a cafe and I made this fucking dring called KILLER BEE and it was 4 shots espresso and honey - some fuckin guy actually orered one once!

Been ordering and drinking various beans from Sump almost exclusively for like 2 years now. Current bag is the Burundi, which came with this great 900-word background/WARNING. Has what they call "The Potato Defect." Which is a great name. Affects beans from several East African areas. If you get one of the affected beans in your grind, your cup tastes strongly of raw potato! You gotta dump it and try again.

I put milk in my coffee b/c I usually want muted flavors, I'll drink it black if I'm getting a single origin pourover someplace and feel like putting up with all the fruit flavors I don't actually care for.

The three weeks I spent without milk in my coffee were the worst three weeks of my life
