I am terrible at marriage; it clearly involves lots more arguments about folding towels than I have managed

My story is a bit different:
Him: where do you want to eat?
ME: I don't care, you choose...and he did...and we ate wherever he chose!
....the next time...
ME: where do you want to eat?
Him: I don't care, you choose..
ME: ok...let's go to Applebee's
Him: I don't want to drive all the way down there...do you?
ME: YES...I knew where it was when I said I wanted to go there!
Him: well, I don't want to go there..
ME: well then, where do you want to go?
Him: I don't care...you choose
THAT'S HOW THE FIGHT STARTED...

ME: Now I am divorced and I eat where I damned well please!
TRUE STORY

^My wife will from time to time do annoying stuff like that, but she has enough sense to see it's annoying when I point it out to her. We are still married.

if you can't agree you have to go to applebees
that way, no future disagreements because nearly anything is acceptable if it means dodging applebees

Overly inclusive Mother's Day posts are grating on me today. I mean I think the sentiment of including people who want to be mothers but can't, people who lost their children etc is very good. But "women who have chosen not to become mothers" IDGI. It's fine to choose not to have kids, but that's not what Mother's Day is for. We might as well also include fathers, men who have chosen not to have kids, little girls who are too young to have kids, etc. Also "women who have difficult relationships with their mothers." JFC! It's called Mothers Day! It's not about you!

the last famous person you were surprised to discover was actually (man alive), Monday, 15 May 2017 01:34 (nine years ago)

I would support Facebook giving you an option to blot out unseen every single post that mentions either of the parent holidays tbh.

✓ (Doctor Casino), Monday, 15 May 2017 01:55 (nine years ago)

tbh the "history of mother's day" crap is horrible, who gives a shit, just celebrate mothers

if you investigate the true history it's actually about temperance or mothers who lost kids in war or the mother of all wars or something

thanks freethought project for digging up the little-known tanishq abraham, the seven-year-old with just 33,000 twitter followers whose name appears in google search results only 89,600 times

After one gin and tonic, one still feels that badness exists, and one finds it troubling.

Two: badness exists but I am glad it cannot get to me in that moment.

Three: the remoteness of badness is a blessing.

Four: we are all brothers and sisters and we should just hug stuff out.

Five: wheeeee! Everythings are beautiful!

Six: oh holy shit everything is horrible and it needs to all die by fire

leprechaundriac (Ye Mad Puffin), Tuesday, 23 May 2017 13:41 (nine years ago)

poss needs context. it's an awful slummy-mummy blog type account that usually posts 'lol aren't my kids awful' stick men cartoons. This is their non-lol reaction to the terror attacks.

A good run here of sharetrash units which are, not entirely wrong, but questionable, and then when you question them they get even more questionable

know it's against the spirit of the thread, but usually find Hurrah for Gin pretty funny, and not at all represented by the mawkishness above. Her one on World Book Day was pretty spot on as far as the life I'm currently living for example - http://hurrahforgin.com/2017/03/01/topsy-and-tim-the-world-book-day-catastrophe/
