Haha, I was much more chill in saying the same thing first time around. Maybe I'm just bored and looking for a pizza clusterfuck for old time's sake
― an uptempo Pop/Hip Hop mentality (imago), Monday, 10 April 2017 17:49 (nine years ago)
The slightly sweet acidity of pineapple does add a certain frisson when combined with a tomato-based sauce and it offsets the saltiness of the cured meat that often accompanies it on a pizza (usually ham or so-called "Canadian bacon"), so I can understand how someone could be attracted to this combination. This doesn't change the bare fact that it is deeply and irrevocably wrong to put pineapple on a pizza. QED.

Rocket on pizza is perfectly ok, its done here a lot too - and the pizza restaurant down the road from me has won awards, in Italy, for being the best at the World Pizza Championship, so we know what do.
Pineapple can get fucked.

― Neanderthal, Monday, 10 April 2017 23:49 (nine years ago)

― marcos, Tuesday, 11 April 2017 16:03 (nine years ago)
There's plenty of good pizza in Canada...but then I'm an irredeemable savage who loves pineapple so..

anchovies are way worse on pizza than pineapple
may as well just accept we all have radically subjective tastes
― Carlotta's Portrait (Ross), Tuesday, 11 April 2017 19:55 (nine years ago)
Let's not get all, like, Catholic about the holy trinity of pizza (crust-tomatoes-chz) when we all know that, stepping away from the orthodox there are contained multitudes within the varieties of the pizza experience. Basically, if u put a flat bread at high temp in a wood-fired oven with some sort of sauce/oil and a protein on it, you have mostly made a pizza.
― rb (soda), Tuesday, 11 April 2017 19:58 (nine years ago)
The thing about pizza is it is absolutely the kind of food that can have all sorts of different wacky shit on it, pizza is basically "stuff on a thing" it will bear any insult there is no sullying it

I used to have three housemates who worked at Domino's, so we had pizza every day for a year. The one with chicken and barbecue sauce is absolutely the best thing they have on the menu.
(But also, from living with non-westerners for a long time, got to say that we British/Americans are weirdly obsessed with the "correct" ways to make pizza, burgers, other not-hugely-interesting-comfort-foods.)
(Also I have eaten quite a lot of durian pizza and it's better than you can possibly imagine)

The pizza thing I thought was always really weird was that southern US thing with the plastic squeeze bottles of French salad dressing to put on pizza as a condiment.
