loath as I am to bring rugger into this, the answer may well be the haka xxp

Yeah the haka is some bullshit
― virginity simple (darraghmac), Monday, 10 April 2017 00:07 (nine years ago)
thought rose had it right up until his miss on 17, then it was either. hopefully he will win it, he's got such a great game

grudging respect to charl schwartzel for sneaking into 2nd, that guy will be making masters cuts 25 years from now.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 10 April 2017 00:22 (nine years ago)
honestly today was really boring until the final pairing made the turn, then the back 9 was one of the best 3 hours of golf i've ever seen. honestly epic in the truest sense of the word -- operas will be written about today
― k3vin k., Monday, 10 April 2017 01:52 (nine years ago)
Otm. That was great.
― Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Monday, 10 April 2017 02:02 (nine years ago)
somewhere down the back stretch nick mentioned that it had turned into match play, which is a comfort zone for sergio. i also read something in the past day or two about how his playing partner makes a difference to him. so--match play against a friendly face--taking NOTHING away from the guy but it had to help.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 10 April 2017 02:05 (nine years ago)
With regards to the best current guy without a major, it's gotta be Kuchar, right? He's top tenned every major in his career, won plenty of tourneys. He's obviously not in the same tier as Sergio, but he's prob the most accomplished of the tour veterans without majors

lee westwood's window is mostly closed but it's crazy he hasn't gotten one.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 10 April 2017 02:20 (nine years ago)
i think westwood's got a better resume -- 23 european tour wins, top 3s in every major
― k3vin k., Monday, 10 April 2017 02:24 (nine years ago)
True, Westwood is better--I straight up assumed that he already won one
― neva missa lost, wednesday nights on abc (voodoo chili), Monday, 10 April 2017 02:43 (nine years ago)
Westwood never figured out how to make 5-foot putts. quite sad.

Don't know if anything's made me feel older recently than finding out it was 18 years ago when Garcia hit that famous blind running approach shot.

― Spottie, Saturday, 13 May 2017 03:13 (nine years ago)

― call all destroyer, Saturday, 13 May 2017 03:17 (nine years ago)

wasn't it vijay who was stridently anti-women. i forget when it came up that there might be joint events or some shit but, unless i'm wrong, vijay was the most outspoken.

here we go:
http://www.espn.com/golf/story?id=1552644
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Vijay Singh made it clear how he feels about Annika Sorenstam playing on the PGA Tour.
What is she going to prove by playing? It's ridiculous. She's the best woman golfer in the world, and I want to emphasize 'woman.' We have our tour for men, and they have their tour. She's taking a spot from someone in the field. "
-- Vijay Singh
He wants to her miss the cut next week in the Colonial.
And on the odd chance that he is paired with her, Singh says he won't play.
In the strongest comments yet about Sorenstam becoming the firstwoman in 58 years to compete on the PGA Tour, Singh said the32-year-old Swede has no business playing at the Colonial andshould stick to her own tour.
''I hope she misses the cut,'' Singh said in an interview with The Associated Press after his runner-up finish at the Wachovia Championship. ''Why? Because she doesn't belong out here.''
Singh knows he won't be playing in the same group as Sorenstam when she becomes the first woman in 58 years to compete on the PGA Tour. His name will be drawn from a pool of PGA Tour winners when the pairings are made.

lol vijay is also currently suing the pga tour so that's something.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 13 May 2017 12:20 (nine years ago)
Oh apparently he was using the ol antler spray.
I remember that story now too xp. Crazy he's had so long to backtrack and apologize but apparently his only reaction was to never talk to the reporter again.

This is insane, so many players in contention. Hoping for Tommy Fleetwood, he's from Southport and he's called Tommy Fleetwood, but then he could be from Fleetwood and called Tommy Southport and I'd still want him to win. Also a golfer who looks Dave Grohl is cooler than a rockstar who looks like Dave Grohl.

In the following week's tournament, the Sony Open in Hawaii, Thomas became the seventh player in PGA Tour history to shoot a 59. During the first round, he opened his round with an eagle and needed to make an eagle on the ninth, his last hole of the day, to shoot 59.[7] Thomas became the youngest player to shoot a sub-60 round. Thomas finished with rounds of 64, 65, and 65 to win the tournament by 7 strokes. He set tournament records for 18, 36, 54, and 72 holes (59, 123, 188, and 253, respectively). He also set PGA Tour records at 36 and 72 holes and tied the 54-hole record.
